Gilbert - What position will he end up playing?

Post: # 623294Post borderbarry »

What position will young Gilbert end up playing? With Max retiring in the near future and some doubt over Matt Maguire's ability to come back and hold down CHB, I believe he is being groomed to take over one of those positions, but I cant make up my mind which, CHB or FB. Which do you believe he is best suited too?

Running tall Defender........

A poor mans mix between Scarlett and Fletcher.....has the hieght and reach like Fletcher to spoil, and the run and carry of Scarlett to rebound and attack.....but not near as good as either....

will be OK...but has a LOT to learn

What gets me at the moment is that he is playing as a small defender. This is so far from his natural role that it's stifling his development.

It's this reason that i'm almost certain we will elevate Attard at the end of the season.

Not bad experience for his development, as he learns to play on more agile players and stay in front of them and not let them get away.

We do lack badly small defenders.
Not sure about Attard ... he may have lost his pace with the knee injury, which means he may struggle in a small defensive role.

???????????????????????????????????

I'm not so sure that it is a bad thing for his development. I can clearly remember Max Hudghton playing on the likes of Nathan Brown & Phil Matera in the past. The major difference between Max & Gilbo is that Max kicks right foot and Gilbo kicks left foot !!

wow thanks for the optimism

maybe you have a lot to learn

fletcher has played what about 300 games and scarlett 200, both are recognised as two of the best in the last 25 years

gilbert what about 40 games

of course he has a lot to learn but for a guy early in his career is showing plenty

i seem to remember that scarlett did not exactly set the world on fire early

support your team
