thats a major pet hate of mine why the fishsticks do the umpires need numbers on their backs ?? they are not part of the game they are equipment of the game they should be nameless and not noticed the fact they have mikes on them and numbers they call the players by nicknames they are becoming part of the game i pay my money to see the players not the damn umpires what next half time interveiws with the umps ??

Appalling though he is, I can't see how Chamberlain can be the worst umpire in the AFL, because Scott McLaren is far and away the worst offical I have ever seen in any form of professional sport.
I reckon even the Pakistani and New Zealand cricket umpires in the bad old days weren't any worse (at least they knew they were unfairly murdering the visiting teams).
I'm happy about Schmitt, simply because I have never particularly noticed anything that he has done in a game: which, for mine, makes him a first rate umpy!!

Do Champion Data keep stats on which umpires pay how many frees during a game???
I reckon Rayzer pays more frees than any other umpire in the AFL..ergo a certain % of them are going to be "tiggy touchwood"
Then, when another umpire DOESNT pay a free for the same infringement the fans start screaming because its inconsistant....ergo games with Rayzer officiating seem more poorly umpired
