Lenny

Post: # 551466Post saint patrick »

Still think this guy is still massively underated or at least taken for granted by many

...is becoming almost our most important player with his incredible workrate and defensive pressure.

Is one of those players a la Michael Tuck that is so efficient and busy doing the little defensive things that they can almost go unnoticed...

Sure his coach and teammates and many supporters fully appreciate his contribution and are aware how important he is to the teams premiership hopes...

Currently for me our 3 most important Players and who we could not afford to lose to injury are Lenny,Roo and Sam Fisher.

Was touching wood with my other hand as I typed this believe me

I think it's just that he did his knee and then collarbone and has taken sometime to get going again.

AFL supporters tend to forget very quick how good some players were.

Don't worry Lenny will get his dues.....the guys been 2nd or 3rd favorite for the brownlow a few times i think?!?!

Lenny is a gun.

So underrated it isnt funny.

Would be one of the top 6 Mids in the comp.

His workrate is awesome.

Big fan.

Absolute pro with his prep also.

There's a poll on Bigfooty atm about who is better Hodge or Hayes. Hodge is leading by about a ratio of 4:1. Obviously some misguided people out there. Apparently he got a lazy 12 tackles last night. No prizes for guessing my thoughts on Lenny.

Hayes has been killing it this year, he is showing that captaincy is just a title he is leading like few others in the league can...

starting to get his touch back. Does all the hard things when he doesn't have the ball but is starting to hurt the oppoisition with the ball now. Will only get better, especially if ball and armo give him some chop out.

Lenny Hayes is awesome and he was again last night. Another solid performance. Notice the difference he makes when he's not on the ground? The midfield struggle a bit, put him back out there and the team lifts. He's a star and i love it because he's not the flashy star, he just goes out there and gets the job done week in week out.

The heartbeat of the team, and has been for some years.

The only flaw in his game would be goalkicking... one a week and hed be up there with Ablett, Bartel, and Kerr as the best midfielder in the comp.

Still not back at his best in terms of his disposal, but his work around the stoppages has been incredible. He's got 36 clearances so far this year (7.2 per game). If he keeps up that kind of effort, opposition coaches are going to have to start thinking about sending their best tagger to him. Right now he's easily one of the top ten mids in the comp. If he straightens out his disposal, there'll be no stopping him.

Yeah nah pleasing positive

He must be loving Steven King tapping the ball down his throat! Some of the King to Hayes work last night was outstanding.

I doubt if Lenny would enjoy being spoken about in the same way as Harvey,(very modest) even though he will be for certain.

the guys a star and when banger hangs them up lenny will take the mantle.

i think all teams need that 'leader', the guy who isnt captain but who everyone just respects and learns from...the inspirational leader if u will.
kinda like what archer was for the roo's (just an eg)

Lenny is definitely our best midfielder. Great to see him return to his pre knee reco form. Also averaging 8 tackles a game so far this year, which is phenomenal. He would surely have to be leading our B&F at the moment.

I've been a little dissapointed with Hayes so far this year, but last night he really lifted. I love Lenny, but jsut seemed to let us down against Dogs etc. But last night he showed us what he is a capable of. Good to see him coming back into form.

You must be joking. He is up there on all media awards and would be miles in front in our b&f.

Lenny is an absolute star. The only one who seems to give him credit apart from Saints fans is Robert Walls. The only person I've heard that has called him a superstar.

I think people have forgotten about him since he did his knee. He no longer gets the number 1 tag anymore, which isn't a big deal because he'd beat the tag anyway, but now players like Dal and Joey get the number 1 tag and aren't able to beat it like Lenny could.

Probably our most important midfielder.

Our midfeild as a whole has had an average start to the season. Not singling out Lenny, everyone has been average, but we clicked well last night. Even the commentators were saying how much better we played when Lenny lifts and I had to agree there.
I havn't seen any media awards for him in previous weeks....
