Our biggest improver this year?

Post: # 533458Post Goose is king »

What to know who you guys think will be the biggest improver for the saints this year. I love the way goose plays and think he will come good after a couple of rounds then dominate. What a legend.

i'd love to see him get back to 2004/2005 form.

the confidence he imparted to the rest of the team in those days was infectious.

Jarryd Allen looks ready to take the bull by the horns.

Id like to see "injuries" take a massive step up this year. Ill settle for the players scoring pa for the course, thatll just about do us.

  Surely you want the injuries to take a nose dive to ZERO - We want no injuries

I agree 100% re Raph Clarke. It's now or never for him. To me, he has looked like a Rolls Royce with transmission problems driven by a P plater who has learnt to drive on an automatic Mazda 121.

If he can get into the right zone mentally and physically he could be anything IMO. If he doesn't, then he'll have another season looking like a second-rater and will disappear altogether from the AFL in 2009.

Come on Raph, go for it!!

Can't see anybody improving too much apart from Gilbert, Geary and Armo... however some players will look better such as Xavier, Dal and Kosi etc. But that is due to other factors such as fitness, position and other players taking the tag.

i think the biggest improvers would have to be allan geary and armo. I dont really know if they have stepped up saw casey in one game last year and only saw them in the saints colours once last year agains the lions in the nab but hell they look good.

I'm hoping it's the year of the Clarkes and that they rival / equal the importance the Burgoynes have for Port.

This was my immediate thought before I read the OP. If Goose can get back to his best (along with Max) the flow on effect would be unbelievable.
The drive from the back third with Goose, Chips, BJ, Gram and (maybe) Raph would be punishing. Who needs a midfield?

I also tend to agree with the other posts nominating Fiora and the Clarke bros. At times been found wanting but if they can all cement a spot and perform consistently anything is possible. Confidence is the key. X and Fiora should kick 20+ goals each if everything falls inot place. Its just those bloody "ifs"...

For me Ross Lyon, I think he will clearly make his mark as an astute coach. IMO he tried to emulate the Swans game plan in the first half of last season, realised that the saints are a different outfit, he gave then some lattitude to go back toward a more attacking side thats wht we won most of our last 11 ganes. Now he will find the right balance between attacking play and accountable defensive play, and during his closed training sesions we have all winged about he now has drilled some set plays that will reap benifits. I think you will find a very well drilled side this year that every other team will fear !!!!!
