What a bloody shock though. I feel for his family, not sure if he had kids but if so then they're the ones that we should all feel for.
Mainwaring is survived by wife, Rani and two children.

Disgusting discussing it without any info.
This was suggested on MMM news.

My wife is a nurse and regularly has patients around his age who die of heart attacks. So not an uncommon event unfortunately.

One day it's all got to be worth it.

If, and I say IF it was a drug related death, as alluded to by several sources, then it should serve as a warning. An otherwise healthy, fit, early middled aged man is now dead.

what a shock.

fantastic player, i remember watching that 94 eagles team who i believe were comparable tothe best sides of this day and age.

matera on one wing and mainwaring on the other... unbelievable.

sad day for the eagles, and a sad day for footy in general.

yep thats pretty much what I posted on BF, matera and mainwaring, the wings on which an eagle flys.

no one wanted to see someone who was a very good footballer and apparently a nice bloke, to be dead.

94 wasnt mainys strongest year i think 92 he really set it alight part of the reason WC did nothing in 93 was due to mainey being out with injury

i still remember his comeback game in his last year after he had done his knee he had so much strapping and padding on his leg it looked like he was going out to bat then kick the footy

Out in the street carring on, just another night in the life of a WC player.

So sad it has come to a death of a champ.

Looks more like a suicide than accidental.

Which makes a bit of a mockery of the "beware the evil of drugs" line that this event will be used to support.

No matter then manner of his death it is a very sad day for his family, friends and footy club. He was a wonderful player, and has passed on way too young.

RIP Mainy.

Er no it doesn't. If it is indeed what you suggest, may I point out that there is a 10-fold increase in the rate of suicide amongst those who have substance use problems.

Anyway, I'm too new to the country to know who he is and anything about his background, so I will echo what has been said - how tragic for the family that he is gone.

It was mentioned on SEN that they asked WA police if drugs were part of the death and they said that is something they will be investigating.
