my boyfriend is a HUGE cats fan. i havn't seen him as excited about anything as he is about the grand final this week.

he went in the ballot to get tickets and got one for the game. problem was, an 89-year old friend of this that is like a grandpa to him, missed out.
so my bf has decided to give up his ticket to his friend. i feel so sorry for him because he is devastated, but he just felt it was the right thing to do.

my question is, could u do it?
could you part with a ticket to see the saints win a grand final?
maybe im a bad person, but honestly, i dont know if i could

Given those same circumstances, I probably would even though it would be a bit hard. Being 18, I'm reasonably confident in saying that I would see my team in the GF sometime down the track.

he is 20 so he is hoping he will be able to see another one eventually. but as we all know...grand finals dont just come round easily

hands down with out a doubt i would hand over my ticket if they have been a fan for more years then ive been alive and have put their mony where their mouth is and been a member for those years the i would have no problem giving a ticket to a longer suffering saint

I don't know if I could do it. It would depend on the relationship with the other person. That's a really lovely gesture on your mate's behalf. If it was to make my grandpa or another really close mentor who's been a life long Sainter happy, then I probably could do it. Then I'd be seriously looking for back to back.

1 premiership in 100 odd years is a poor strike rate, any chance i got id take it.

Although if i happened to see a winning premiership i would be happy to give it away for another grand final to allow another sainter to experience the joy.

I think if we win 1 premiership and i can see it, i will be happy, im currently 19 so hopefully i can see more than 1

OK BIB, heres a hypothetical for you...Saints play Gee in the GF next year. You get a ticket, he misses out... Would you give up your ticket as repayment for what he did this year??

Bear in mind when answering that in that situation, I reckon love only extends to Preliminary Final weekend and not one day past it!!

And as each opportunity goes by - 71, late 70s, early 90s, 97, mid noughties - I am becoming ever more concerned and alarmed and fearful that I will never see that glorious day.

Generally, what you do comes back to you. I wouldn't be surprised if a GF ticket appeared for him. Something nice will happen, well done to him... But maybe you should dump him for not going for the Saints, that's a bigger issue..

I will be totally honestly, I wouldn't do it.....
This 89 yr old has seen the cats win a flag.... the boyfriend hasn't.... (I am not saying that the cats will win but you get my point)

Not having any older St Kilda supporting family friends, I might be lucky enough that I won't need to make the decision.
