imagine if he starts holding his marks and became more sure handed.,....20 goals in a match would not be out of his reach...most exicting full forward since plugger...without a shadow of a doubt.....cream certainly rises to the top......

Dunno about "flat out" hopeless, he kicked 2 of his 7 today from ground ball gathers below his knees. He may struggle a bit in that department at the moment, but it looks like he has been working on it. Even players of his skill still have to work on certain areas of their games.

Will be a superstar. Such a difficult player to match up on.... More than a headache for opposition coaches... I remember somebody once stating that "Lance was made for September" or something along those lines... never heard a truer statement. Considering he kicked 2.11 the other week it's a fairly big turnaround...

I think you must be referring to an incident in the 3rd quarter when he was stuffed after competing for the 3 consecutive contest in as many minutes..

Most of the time his second efforts a great IMO

once he becomes more consistent, as he sometimes goes missing, and puts in some better second and third efforts, he will be a star

but he hasn't reached that level yet

oh, and he also must be one of the biggest divers in the game, his two in 30 seconds today were pathetic

Err..Franklin is only 20 yrs 7 months......and is already very very good....and is improving at a frightening rate.

Now he may plateau......by if he keeps improving then you are talking about someone who will be in the top 5 in the competition.

He was always fabulously talented, but had a reputation as a kid with a big head, lazy, and difficult to manage.

That was the reason he was pick 5 in the 2004 draft.
Clubs with higher picks weren't prepared to take a risk on him.

Hawthorn got him and so far it looks like paying off.
But he might still be a bit of a liability off-field !

the fact that he has kicked seven in his first final says to me that he's already a superstar.

not even 21 yet ... scary. the fact that he's kicked them in a final and when it counts says a lot

so does that make the Adelaide bloke who kicked a bag against us in the 97 GF a superstar?

no

Yes good comment. G looked interested in all games did he. Open both eyes or have you had one removed.

I hope people saying how good Franklin is are not the ones saying hopeless he was before we played them. Lets get this right. He is great already and will be a superstar in the future.

C'mon are you serious man! Franklin is a gun. An off field liability as compared to who... Cousins, Fev, Farmer, Kerr, etc, etc. He doesn't deserve to rated on innuendo and is a star... even though he's a Hawk let's just appreciate him for what he does on the park.

Hard call. If Carey was any further up himself he would have been a vacuum cleaner. I like the way Franklin celebrated with his team mates yesterday... he celebrated with them as opposed to Carey whose team would celebrate with him... if you know what I mean... there is a difference.

Just think it's a bit too harsh and obvious to put shyte on a kid who just got his team over the line in an elimination final.

Richmond have not let Pavlich and Buddy go so far.

It just makes me think weather you should go for these gun talls or smalls in the draft. Smalls are a dime a dozen where as buddy is a freak.

Less goals than Lloyd at the same point in his career.

About 50 less goals than Lockett after the same number of games.

70 less goals than Ablett after the same number of games.

A little bit of perspective ....

Won't ever be as good as Lockett, but if he keeps his head right, he will be remembered as a star like Ablett IMO.

He's an arrogant little prick and I can't stand him, but he can play football.

But he ain't a superstar ... he's got three All-Australian selections, 3 B&F's, an AFLPA MVP and a top 5 finish in the Brownlow before he's even as good as Riewoldt.

They should only play AFL games now when it's raining. Slow games of footy are so much better to watch.

no-one's as good as lockett. but ablett was a superstar, not a star.

the thing that impressed me about buddy so much yesterday is that he kicked these when they counted ... in a final and to win a final.

Franklin does not normally play as a permanent full forward....so comparing goal averages to gus that were is not really that elevant...

However Plugga was one of the games all time best players,.....so I am certainly not putting Franklin up with him at present.
