Post: # 432202Post joffaboy »

Soccer tactics with basketball contact.

Almost walked out of the Saints v bulldogs game last week in qtr3 because of this dross.

Can barely be bothered watching this crap tonight.

Losing interest in football at a rapid pace I'm afraid.

Really not what i loved about football this flooding defensive chip chip chip crappola.

if I want to see uncontested possessions in the back half I'll go and watch the Victory.

Game id dying at the top level IMHO.

I said earlier in the season I support st kilda, I dont enjoy AFL any more.

in between the politics, dimwit etc, and the way some teams play Im just there for the saints.

I used to love every game and pour over the stats etc, now its pretty much st kilda or nothing.

Unfortunaely St.Kilda are part of the problem. This flooding, especially the equally appalling Sydney Swans uberflooders and the game has just lost its appeal.

Can bearly get interested ATM.

Am really more interested in watching Geelong or Port or the WCE. At least they attack and play football properly.

Really this is taking all the enjoyment out of the game.

its a bit difficult to play afl the way it should be played when a team comes against a team with tactics like sydney

they are a team of s*** players squeezing a game due to their lack of talent

if only teams woke up to their garbage early in 2005...

Some matches are still well worth watching: the Tiges vs the Filth last night for instance, in which both teams played an attacking, free-flowing brand of football (the only drawback was that, because neither team is much good, the match abounded in skill errors. But it was entertaining to watch.)

Last week's Freo vs WCE was great fun as well.

Tonight's game isn't helped by the unusual shape of the ground and the shocking playing surface (it looks really uneven: some bits are firm and fast and other bits - especially the forward 50s on both sides - are like a quagmire).

The Swans have been the dullest, dirtiest and ugliest team in the AFL. What I particularly hate is how many deliberate illegal acts they commit, working on the law of averages that the umps aren't going to play them all as free kicks.

Why our board ever saw the Swans as setting the benchmark to which we wished to aspire, I'll never know. It isn't much fun watching Lyon trying to emulate them: which, despite the constant denials, he undoubtedly is doing.

That said, we are a much more attacking and entertaining team than the Swans. Our execution has, as it so often does, let us down again tonight.

I would pay $1000 to the club and so would 1000 other members if we got Leigh Matthews down in 2008.

well we are a team ful of talent and play the same way.

Really really dissapointed in the way our gameplan is panning out this season.

gave it the benefit of the doubt when we were chock full of injuries, but to play this type of game (make no mistake we are flooding just as much as Sydney) with what we have on the park is boring and appalling.

I understand Lyons job is to win football matches, no matter how. But if it bore the s.hite out of me, I will look for alternatives for my hard earned and my inceasingly less liesure time.

this game is boring crap and it is not just Sydneys fault.

concur meher.

we are still the better team out there despite the scoreboard.

if we can maintain what we are doing and get a lift from others we will win this at a canter.

yes the admin will say "oh what a tough match" so tough in fact that our lovechild Barry Hall can elbow Dal Santo in the head and get the free kick.

Yep, it's an eyesore.

If the Saints weren't in existence, I wouldn't waste my time supporting it.

We had a perfectly good, attacking coach last year.

I just found that game and last week so frustrating to watch.

Would be interested to hear what neutral people felt.
I suspect their only interest would be in the closeness of the scores ?

Yup - concur.

Is is boring, robotic, spineless crap.

Just the last three weeks have confirmed that my interest is falling off rapidly.

Another Saintsational convert :P

Seriously, it's hard to swallow why we play like this - especially when we used to move the ball so hard and fast in 2003-5.

Why we played the mega flood when we needed to take a risk and go man-on-man in the last quarter is just beyond me.

Everton 1 - 0 Wigan at the 65' mark. Quite engrossing compared to the fare at Homebush, sadly.

It is?

What is different about that era, compared to 2007?

I'll give you a clue, this person came from Sydney and his initials are RL

the holding the ball rule is such rubbish

frees paid now which nobody knows about...

the umpires umpire well, they're just using the worst rule book in the world

incidental contact is also too heavily penalised

just not enough contests without intervention anymore...

There are only a couple of teams in the AFL right now making football to watch difficult.
The Swans are one of those.

ab·sorb·ing:
extremely interesting; deeply engrossing: an absorbing drama.

haha, i have found bellybutton lint that was more "absorbing" than last nights game.

I can't believe i look at geelong and am envious of the type of football they play.
