We were pretty decent in 2023… we were close to the form team for the first 8 or so rounds even with an injury ravaged line up.
Collingwood just got by us
Port too
Brisbane (our bogey team in recent years) beat us but didn’t dominate
GWS we beat once and whilst they won the final… again they didn’t really put us away and we were out of sorts on the day.

It looks to me like we’ve drafted well and recruited pretty exciting prospects in Dow and Henry who both look set to go up a gear.

Reports coming out of Moorabbin is that we look lean and fit with a bunch of players like Clark looking on the beat shape we’ve seen them…
Then you have the Windy, Caminati, Owen and Pou group burning the track up…

We’ve got a committed group of coaches…
We’re injury free (for the most part) and all our departures from 2023 are players that either didn’t play or barely ever played.

People think of us as likely sliders… IMO we’re going to burn it up.

Just assume a reliable, functioning forward line; a mid field that can't go 0-14 last quarter clearances again against the big boys; smallish CHB doesn't matter against Carlton and BNE, all the newbies gel immediately (impossible); a second ruck is about to emerge and Collingwood's nerve cracks. I've concluded for some time that St Kilda will make top 4 in 2024 and if that turns out to be true there's good reason to argue the team can go all the way to the GF and win that elusive 2nd flag.

Even the media pundits who think St Kilda will slide out of the eight have admitted that St Kilda has improved it's list via trades and draft, which makes you wonder why they are so negative about our team.

Lyon mentioned in his press conference that he expects Henry, Dow, Wilson, Collard and Schoenmaker to play senior footy next year.

Riley Bonner has the experience, commitment and immense determination to play regularly which will put pressure on Webster and Stocker for the halfback spot.

The only proviso is injuries to key players like Max King and Rowan Marshall which would make that objective difficult to achieve.

Pou will be flying, Max really settled, Van Ess may have emerged.
Wilson will have a body to match his running ability.
Keeler will at last be an AFL Regular.
Caminiti will improved.
Hooton and other s of our youngsters will all be ready to play if required.
Plus we will at last have lured a gun from another club



But yes in 2024, our team will be better. Though some of the other clubs look like they may be better too.
