That's a bit harsh...
North Hobart, you mean!

Port need draft picks. Could Josh Sinn be part of that equation?

See Sydney are not going for a "youth" policy with Grundy and Taylor, unlike North and Hawks. Interesting to see the different philosophies play out. Of course if it doesn't work out for North it can just go to the AFL with its begging bowl, which must be a comfort. AFL are locked in to getting North into the 8. Watch that space. I reckon AFL will insert a CEO of its choosing soonish.

Here's a good summary of what's happened so far in Trade Week.
Saints yet to fire a shot.

The Swans just trumped us. 2 former All Australians and 2 former premiership players.... without giving up the farm for any one!!

IN: Taylor Adams, Brodie Grundy, Joel Hamling, James Jordon, future end-of-first-round pick, pick 44

OUT: Dylan Stephens, pick 25, pick 33, pick 46, future second round pick

They also made a play for Aaron Naughton but the Dogs knocked it back.

Kinnear Beatson is one of the best in the business. He was with Brisbane during their 3peat as well so has a lifetime of experience

I've always envied them as far as what they've achieved over the years with trades and drafting. Going back all the way to the Buddy Franklin trade plus... I hate them for stealing Plugger as well
The Casey Demons ruckman, a guy who's played 6 games in three years for Freo and I guess Melbourne will have to find someone else to be sub every week.

I think teams in so much as they are independent clubs anymore, particularly the minnow Melbournites (StKilda, Bulldogs, North) know their place in the franchise now.
Even the speech at St Kilda ‘s B&F reminds us to curb expectations and accept our Sunday twilite status.

And so the franchise can continue..incredibly considering the brutal rationalism of the ‘90s, but only when people know their place.

What? When was anything like that said?

The general theme of all the speeches was that despite 2023 being a positive year, we need to improve and bridge the gap to the top 4.

Lots of action from some smart operators but we are yet to fire a shot, possibly because we don’t have the smart operators.
Early days but imagine we will lose Gresham, Coffield, Billings and McKenzie (all injury or overrated) for little or no return then pay overs for Henry and maybe take a chance on Dow.

Anyone else hearing the rumours about how Clayton Oliver ended up in hospital?
Probably bulls***, but explosive if true.

Something certainly smells fishy.

The club stated "Clayton was transported to hospital via ambulance, following a medical episode."
If it was a fall, why not say a fall? If he had some other medical episode, why not state what it was in general terms..

"medical episode" just seems very suss and they must realise that... i.e. if they could have been slightly more specific they would have been

I don’t understand the positivity around Sydney. They’re list is bad, very bad in fact outside of a couple gun young midfielders. They’re brought in some short term options for what purpose? they’re a whole list rebuild away from being competitive.

Only heard Jon Ralph say Clarry might allegedly have had a few shandies before he had his fall.
Other than that his club is trying to keep a lid on it.

He's a left footer. 26 years of age. Durable Defender. Good addition to the list if we can get him

Back up for Jimmy Webster if Jimmy decides to hang up the boots at the end of 2024. Also good move if Coffield does go

I don't think West Coast will let him go or that he wants to leave. Possibly future captain of the club

Id suggest we are just warming him up for next year but he would improve the list placing Stocker, Billings, Windy, Webster, Paton and Jones behind him, but at what cost?

Could he go out on a wing and attack? Its a nice left boot by the looks and uses the right too and takes a lot of uncontested marks.

Average disposals have taken a leap in the last 2 years and he rebounds nicely.

No injuries since 2019.

Next years picks coming into play? If he wanted to talk, you'd talk to him.

Listening to SOS on trade radio, it sounds like we are working on getting someone else to the club.

Dow
Henry
?

Certainly is. Eagles premiership player. I’m surprised he wasn’t named captain already.

Am related to him - he’s my third cousin so have followed his career closely since he was drafted. Met him once pregame at the Gabba. Would be a great pickup - turns 27 in December.

Not sure why he would be needed

Have Sinclair NWM Stocker Webster Paton

And others who can play HB

Most clubs mantra - you can’t have enough mids
StK - you can’t have enough HBs

Liam D was being readied to become an Eagles midfielder but had to stay in defence the last 2 years as the team went to s***
