Sandy kicked out to a lead, then...down, down...GC kicked the last five

Tom Highmore 100 points already

Cooper Sharman, is scoreless but has decent stats..playing back?

Watched the game, it was always going to be a matter of time before Sandy were run down. Suns had 20 AFL listed players Sandy 7 and only 3 of them played well. Saints injuries really handicapping Sandy’s chances

Sheez!...not sure how the coaches cover the loss of Bytel, it has to be official now, we will be playing one man short against the Pies.

They might have to ask Steele to play with one arm in a sling.

Peris surely: or, if he's thought to be too great a risk for such a big game, then Highmore. I can't see much point in selecting a second ruckman to play against a team with no ruckman.

From AFL.com “around the state leagues”

Tom Highmore was one positive out of a dark Easter Sunday loss for Sandringham as the Zebras turned a 32-point quarter-time lead into a 17-point loss against Gold Coast.

Highmore was busy in the back half, finishing with 21 disposals and 12 marks, while untried key defender Oscar Adams had 11 touches and Leo Connolly picked up 16 disposals and four clearances.

Rookie Cooper Sharman had 20 disposals along with seven marks but didn't hit the scoreboard.

Journeyman ruck Tom Campbell did well at the hitouts, getting 28 taps and five clearances among his 13 disposals.

James Van Es saw the ball just four times.

Jack Peris was involved with 13 disposals, while fellow rookie Max Heath was much quieter with just six touches.

Agree, seeing as though there are no players available who can be selected on a like for like basis or on a strategic basis then the next selection criteria has to be which of tbe available players is capable of or has been AFL capable and can execute some desirable skills without ball in hand, ie can apply the defensive non negotiables of a Lyon game plan.

Has to be Highmore doesn't it.

It's desperate times.

The cupboard is bare. Only Highmore could get a game on merit at the moment, and there is no spot available for him in our backline.

Campbell? Been playing consistently well all year.

Only if Marshall was injured.

From what I've seen:

I think what is holding back Sharman and Connolly is their lack of intensity/ aggression in traffic.

Van Es has a lot to learn and needs help in his development

Adams lacks the physical strength to be a key back at this stage.

Peris is a goer but needs to learn where to position himself

Moose needs another year getting fitter, stronger, and learning ruck craft

Overall, though, it's damn hard to develop players in that environment and it makes it hard to gauge their readiness for the AFL because the quality of football being played is so poor
