Wanganeen-Milera

Post: # 1995027Post cwrcyn »

Came to us last year weighing 71kg.

He now is 79kg, which will help him enormously this year. He's now probably only 3 - 4 kg short of his optimum weight for his height considering the role he plays.

To put his current weight into perspective he is 187cm and 79kg, while Jack Billings is 185cm and 80kg, and Jack Bytel is 189cm and 82kg

Kid seems primed for a big year.

I think everyone is feeling the same thing about NWM which is something to the effect of “please please let him re-sign soon”.

going to be an interesting watch in his second year, does he keep progressing where he left off in 2022 or does he have second year blues and struggle with the added attention.

Hopefully he gets played consistently and in a role he can make his own… and re-signs!

The grace and class …the spindly limbs…I can’t help thinking of (here we go racial profile alarm by-pass please) , sans the leap for marks, there is something young Nicky Winmarish that got me encouraged about Nas.
Go NWM
May the God of injuries and collisions controller be kind.

Get his signature on the line that is dotted.

If he hasn't re-signed by the start of the season, it is a worry.

I'm hoping that it is already a done deal and will announce soon for a bit of a boost before Round 1

The word is that his manager is in his year to wait and demonstrate his worth for a big contract. All accounts suggest he’s pretty happy at the club.

I'm not so sure I think he will wait until the end of the season see how he goes & how the club performs .If he does alright & the club does alright he will hold the whip hand & can demand a decent contract & then it will be down to the player manager to get the best deal done. If he & the club have average years he will go home to Adelaide IMO anyway

Not sure why we need to stress too much. We will get decent compensation if he decides to leave

I like the guy. I think he will be a very good player, but let's not kid ourselves. He isn't a match winner just yet and hasn't come close to being best on ground in any of his games so far

His trajectory is good. In fact, it's very good but I wouldn't be expecting too much from him in his second year

Some good points you make, actually when you do think about it he has been overhyped a fair bit, needs to show something this year to live up to the hype.

For a first year player he showed that he was comfortable with the AFL tempo. He's a natural and he has excellent disposal. The new game style will mean his assets will be needed, and he should flourish

You are a hard marker BM. The kid is 19yo hugely talented but still athletically thin. Give him time to put on some more bulk and strength and he will prove to be a very good player.

Why does he need bulk?

He plays as a running back/winger

I think he has ability, but he’s clearly not there yet

An enormous talent who is best suited to the wing. But lets set him back by playing him in defence.

He will be a very good player.
This year is another development year, and he will get better again next year.
His tackling wasn’t bad last year, and was better than Hills tackling- and NWM will get better this year.
Will enjoy watching him pull the trigger on the high risk kicks and make most of them work - much the same way Collingwood started their fast attacks from defence last year. Together with Sinclair should be able to move the ball quickly and accurately to about half forward , and then hopefully the half forwards can capitalise.
Could well be my favourite player by year end.

Needs to be able to hold his own in defensive situations even if his primary objective is to provide run from half back. I agree that he was quite a long way off last season but by all reports his running and strength have improved significantly. I also think simplifying the game by putting him at half back will help.

The lad has potential to develop into a bonafide jet. Plenty of good signs shown last year. Great to hear he has bulked up and is primed for a big year!

I looked at a few of the young guys like Heath and it has him at 104cm and still 93kg and Owens at 191cm and 85kg I would have thought they would have grown and put on weight.

Lockett was listed as 191 104 and he was, when he was 17. I'm told he played 2 season over 125kg and most between 110 and 120kg.

I think Nas should aspire to be playing with that sort of weight.
Once he gets the wheels spinning, no one would be stopping him.

Shame that he has so much potential as he is probably going home next year. This is based mostly on his lack of contract. I hope he still has a break out year if for no other reason it increases his value

Not "Simon Templar". He was here first. Please change my username to Bumstead and if possible make me one of those very large sandwiches, thanks!

When you're a one-touch technical genius, as lockett was, you can take the ball on the half volley, at your ankles, swing onto your left and hook a 50 metre drop punt, around your hips, straight through the middle, no one really remembers what you couldn't do.
