I had to look him up, as he was before my time. He played just 8 senior games for the club in 1965 and 1967. Apparently he wasn’t at the club in 1966, which seems like a bit of bad luck.

RIP Ted

He was one of the 3 emergencies named for the Grannie from memory.

Teddy Schwarzman, number 32. He was a pretty smart player at the time, unfortunately he was at the club in an era where we had about 40 on the list as good or better than him. Although he didn't play a senior game in 1966 he was actually an emergency in our Premiership team. I remember him inthr 70's at Sandringham in the VFA's golden era.

R.I.P. Ted.

The close world of Saints supporters was borne out when I was undertaking some research about Ted Shwarzman. His was a name that stood out to me back in the day (when I was about 8 years or so old). Anyway my research uncovered some comments from a Saints supporter I met down here in the shadows of the cattery. In fact my friend had attend Ted's funeral last Monday. Yesterday, I was recounting this story to my 90 year old Dad who lives in Black Rock when Dad pipes up my neighbour Jack Austin played for St KIlda and possibly knew him. We googled Jack Austin who played 6 games at the Sainters in 1966. I shared this information with my friend living in the shadows of the cattery to which he replied "Jack Austin was acknowledged at Ted Schwarzman's funeral and I believe he was in attendance". My Dad is now catching up with Jack Austin to discover more. As an aside I told Dad to ask Jack Austin his thoughts about Bob Murray my favourite back in the day.

Ahhh, Bob Murray, he was my favourite player back in the day, my grade 6 teacher and my school football team coach.

RIP Ted.

We also have lost Deane Lester who was very passionate Saints supporter.
