Geoff Walsh leaving?

Post: # 1993659Post 1965 Saint »

I’ve just heard on the radio in Perth that Geoff Walsh departure is imminent. Didn’t catch the full story but it appears illness of some description.

Are you sure it wasnt Pat Welsh the Channel 7 TV reporter had retired?

He looked fit and health at training yesterday. I think they were referring to Pat Welsh.

This club has got to be 'cursed'. They finally get their Football Dept in order and then the main man departs. I dont know what Misson is like, but the club needs a strong individual to manage Lyon.

Taken at face value, fair enough. But read between the lines and it could be anywhere from "He's done what he needed to do", down to "Clashing heads with club figures", or even "Disagrees with overall club strategy".

Personally, I don't think it's worth thinking about beyond getting a new head of football.

When a man says he knows its time to retire and actually retires, then it's best to let that man retire.

Let's hope all is well with his family but the club must move on quickly and find someone with a little bit more youth, and someone who can work with Ross and rein him when necessary.

I am sad that he has gone.

But it was brilliant that we got him when we did.

We needed to make big changes, be ruthless about it, and to have them enacted and overseen by someone who was very good, experienced and not wedded to anyone, or any process already, at St Kilda FC.

Walsh was ideal for this.

Would be great if Luke Ball took on the role, and had the pleasure of getting rid of the two clowns that decided he could only play 6 minutes at a time.
I  have refrained from bagging Lyon this time round but when I see Misson's name and the promotion of the bloke who instigated the Hannebery debacle my blood boils!

It's now on the AFL website.
Misson will be interim head of footy
Tess McManus (head of AFLW) was mentioned as chipping in to assist.
He said 'with my personal situation very recently changing' he needs to focus on addressing that

Ball is a life member of Collingwood, lost the confidence of our coaches in that important season and important game; left us apparently by mutual agreement and has attained an out of proportion halo aura amongst heart broken what iffing supporters because he what ? was sat on the bench, not for actually doing something wonderful. Remember he is a Collingwood lifer, bestowed by Eddy in person. Bring him back, turn it up.

And Lyon might have been made a life member of Freo if he’d won a flag!
Would that have influenced your desire to have him back?

19 years at North Melbourne
12 years at Collingwood
121 days at St Kilda

We beat North by 101 points
Collingwood by 109 points

Gotta take that.

St Kilda's efficiency and 'move the ball fast' ethos is working.

You're quite brilliant Shane, yeah..terrific!

Anyone know who would be available out there (besides thommo) to replace Walshie?
