Saints needs according to mickey milkshake

Post: # 1977701Post saynta »

He says,

St Kilda shot itself in the foot time and time again.

It effectively missed eighth position by one victory – the Cairns game against Port Adelaide will haunt the club. It’s too easy to blame young Max King, but he bafflingly kicks no goals and five behinds one week and five straight goals the next.

The Saints will be without Jarryn Geary, Paddy Ryder, and Dan Hannebery next year, and possibly Brad Hill, too, if Alastair Clarkson is chasing him. They’ll miss Geary’s toughness and Ryder’s flexibility, but I just hope they don’t chase big names for the sake of trying to fit them in.

St Kilda needs another backup ruckman as Rowan Marshall won’t be able to do it all himself. And it needs another tall defender and more pace through the midfield. It can’t have Seb Ross and Brad Crouch playing next to each other, handing the opposition a leg speed advantage.

Marcus Windhager has added value through the middle. Callum Wilkie has been an exceptional tall backman. Jack Steele always battles his heart out and Jack Sinclair is a revelation in defence.

If the Saints can get Jade Gresham and Hunter Clark up and keep them fit, and gain more consistency from King, they are a chance next season. They must learn how to win the big games. Their test will be to take a big scalp early and then maintain it through the year."

I said that epic fail in Cairns was going to cost us our season.

How I was hoping to be proven wrong.

Until we have an administration that demands success and a playing group that bleeds for the guernsey, St. Kilda will just be a sh*tty football club.

Still would’ve missed the 8 if we’d beaten Port.

No Ross and Crouch together?

Reckon Seb isn't slow, but no doubt, why we want DeGoey.

Windhager and Owens will provide inside speed also, along with Gresh.

The interesting thing about Mickey's article was his comments on Carlton. He did well typing whilst sucking on sour grapes. Funny stuff!

The win against Cats, Seb tried to chase down Zac Touhy.
Z was able to dish off, then regain the ball, and Seb was a few metres behind but couldn't catch him.
Tuohy isn't known for any sort of speed, he's not Usain Bolt, hey

Well we were two wins out of the eight, so you were wrong.

Geary and Hannebery gone?

Does he/she know that Gears didn't even play, and Hannas had a cameo just to say hello/goodbye?

What a joke.

You're quite brilliant Shane, yeah..terrific!

Seb is actually quick. You're right.

We need to create more and longer chains of play ... and for that we need to add a couple of quick and skillful midfielders/playmakers.

That’s even worse.

It appears non of those truly equate to an actual AFL game if that's the perception. So what's not working? One sidedness, disposal efficiency or actual pace?

One of the more common sights this year was Ross breaking away from a centre bounce, being pursued, and kicking inside 50.

He looks quicker this year than previously. Not sure how.

Just goes to show that when it comes to footy analsis, it doesn't matter how many games you've played, or how many flags you've coached or played in.
If you're a student of the game, then your opinion is just as relevant.

Hardly anyone thought Geelong were a genuine chance come finals time at the start of the season.
Most had the Dogs and Dons in the eight. Nobody had Collingwood or Freo.

It's a mugs game!

Embarrassing for Mick having his name attributed to such a poorly written and researched piece re: saints.
This has to be written by someone who spent two minutes scrolling Google.

Maybe he is quick, but Malthouse is right, you cannot gave both Ross & Crouch playing side by side in the middle.
