On the couch - Membrey, Sinclair, Ross

Post: # 1946417Post B.M »

Rooey showed a great clip of defensive work rate from 3 quality gut runners.

Seb and Sincs are top 5 runners at the club, and Membrey ability to get up and down the ground as a power running forward.

In the clip

Richmond had the ball at right HB
Membrey was set up behind the ball and Seb, Sincs were in the zone down the line
Richmond switched the ball and ran it out of D50
Membrey chased 3 seperate players 100m out of defence and caused a dump kick
Meanwhile Ross and Sinclair worked hard to the other side of the ground
Sinclair caused the spoil
Seb got the front and square, handballed it to Membrey who dished off

It ended up in the most important goal in the game - Crouches

Defensive gut running at its best

Great example of how offence is built off great defence!

Good by Crouch
Great by the other 3

So its the execution of the kicking for goal that has come good. The ret has been going on for a while.

Terrific play/teamwork.

However.....

Dunstall is always coy about Hawks. Sensibly.

Does Nick highlighting that play help us in the medium term. Tag Sincs, follow Tim everywhere, is that the message other clubs will pick up on Nick?

Give them nothing.

Ratts to Robbo: "No!".

Won't get the credit deserves on here as there was no Supercoach points involved or there wasn't a flashy 50 meter kick from Ross.

There was another passage later where King got the mark and kicked a goal, but Hill ran forward from a fair way back and attracted a couple of defenders leaving King one out (if memory serves correct). Thought that was pretty good by Hill.

Unrewarded running, both offensively and defensively is what great teams do

It allows

Clean ball moved in offence as it draws defenders away

Slows ball movement in defence which creates turnover

Was that the goal that resulted from a dodgy Gresham handball?

Nice to get the occasional blatant bank error in our favour
