ST KILDA coach Alan Richardson believes Sydney’s Lewis Jetta is “absolutely” the type of player the club needs but played down making a play for the speedy wingman.

Speaking on 3AW, Richardson said the Saints were still committed to the draft but wouldn’t rule out trying to lure Jetta south.

“Jetta is absolutely the type of player that would compliment what we’ve done,” he said.

“How much more footy do we think he’s going to play? How does it work financially? They are the questions we need to answer.

“It’s less likely than likely. We’re still really strong on the draft.”

Richardson said the club was still “at least a year” away from attacking free agency but were always looking to bolster their list with a focus on a key forward and key defender to support prospects Paddy McCartin and Hugh Goddard.

Rory Thompson, can we make a play for him?

He is all class but wouldn't come cheap. Is there anything we could add to our second round pick for him?

I'd suggest we are a chance to get a different player from the Suns, leaving them with a bit of cap space to re-sign Thompson.

Probably a big name like Keegan Brooksby or Louis Herbert.

I personally think we should make a play for Hrovat at the doggies, struggling to get a game because of their midfield depth but would fit nicely in our midfield.

Just a bit of fun but does anyone think this is at all possible??
1. Trade 6 + 61 to Fremantle for 18+56+ Weller
2. Trade 18+ Hickey+ Saunders to Essendon for 5
3. Trade 5 + 25 to Adelaide for 11+12
4. Trade 12 +43 +79 to Swans for 16+34+52
5. Trade 11 for Aish (Bris)
6. Trade next years 4th round pick for Barrett (GWS)
7. Acquire Tarrant (Nth) as a F/A on front ended contract to stopgap defence

In: 16, 34, 52, 56, Weller, Aish, Tarrant, Barrett
Out: 6, 25, 43, 61, 79, 2016 4th Rd pick, Hickey, Saunders

Draft:
16: Collins
34: Partington
52: Rice
56: Lovell
*Upgrade Sinclair with final pick

Total ins= Weller, Aish, Tarrant, Barrett, Collins, Partington, Rice, Lovell
Sounds more far fetched than me getting sex tonight but the only thing I can say for certain is Saunders isn't worth a thing.
Ha ha. Solly, no can help with you 'tonight ploblem', but may be somefing flom The Carvery on Big Fook Yu Cafe instead???

If Parish out of reach then who @ Pick 9?

Post: # 1577213Post the dome »

Sounding like Pick 9 may be our first dip this year with the academy situation up north squeezing our options in the top 10.
Just wondering who we may be more likely to land around Pick 9 as i'm hearing it mentioned.
Does this influence the recruiters to look a bit harder @ Collins (for defence) over an equally rated MID ?
I seem to be in National Draft Countdown Mode already.

Just had a look @ Paige Cardona's late July draft predictions.
Paige has the Geelong Falcon MID Rhys Mathieson @ Pick 9 a spot behind Academy product Matt Kennedy @ '8' If Paige is right Charlie Curnow (another Geel. Falcon) she rates @ '7' could potentially slide to our pick. As a tall mid/ utility he could be an interesting comparison or dilemma to K.Collins @ Pick 13. Paige has Sam Weideman @ 12 (key fwd.) with Eric Hipwood & Harry McKay both 200cm. at Picks 10 & 11. I suppose looking very simply @ pick numbers Charlie Curnow might make us happier @ Pick 9 if most rated him like Paige @ Pick ''7'. The 2 Gee.F's Curnow & Mathieson shape up as a good comparison as well and one of them may be joining up with Paddy & Hughagain for 2016. I didn't mention Darcy Parrish @ 6th. because he could be out of our reach on draft day. :?

If Parish and Francis are going to be out of our reach, maybe we would be better off making a play for Kelly from GWS, or one of the several Gold Coast players that have been bandied around on Saintsational and Big Footy.

Trade Rumours

Post: # 1580260Post evo »

Over at B/F they have trade thread that is over 900 pages, so I thought it would be a good idea to have one here.

Here is what I have gathered off other boards, newspapers, twitter etc.

We are front runners for Aish, Carlisle, Freeman.
We are not into Bennell or Melsham.

If any of these happen I think it will cost us our first two dp's and/or players.
Maybe seeing that many think this is a poor draft pool, it maybe time for a draft sabbatical this year and load up on proven young players

Thoughts......

Between us and Collingwood for Aish apparently Dunstan and Aish are very close.

Carlisle is apparently agreed to just finalising the details.

Talia in the picture.

Freeman will be cheap if Pies don't get his contract sorted.

Pick 5 on the table if it can snare Kelly.

Don't be surprised if Tom Hickey is a Bomber next year.

With both clubs VFL sides in finals apparently any formal announcement is on hold.

The Talia from the WB I don't rate him but the mail is we are into him.

Sounds like it could be Ross and a second round pick for Carlisle. He said a popular player though so not sure. Ruled out Luke Dunstan.

Straight swap would be fine, unless the draft picks are coming our way.
Carlisle may have to serve a suspension yet, so any deal should be weighted in our favour!!

Hickey certainly seems popular with teammates so fits the criteria of previous posters. I still can't work out why Longer has been favoured over Hickey when Toms around the ground work ie marks kicks , is ahead of Longer who is in the Holmes category of tap ruckman and not much else. I agree that it looks like we are grooming at least one of our ruckman for market.

I can't see Aish at St Kilda but geez I would be stoked to get him. In a thin draft perhaps we are cashing in all our draft picks this year in favour of talent that has already been in the system.

Would prefer Longer to be traded and keep Hickey
