Probably the thing that concerns me a little from this article is his admission that he is not as naturally talented as others. Working hard can only get you so far when you have reached the pointy end of the competition.

I take that as being modest and self aware. I think working hard will get him past a lot of his peers and on track to hopefully a long career.

Also he didn't actually say not as talented but not as naturally talented physically. This suggests to me that he is saying that is not a natural athlete which is something that hard work can help you overcome.

A great work ethic gave some Saints some pretty decent careers. Think of Armitage, Geary, Stephen Baker, Jason Blake, Jamie Shanahan. None of them blessed with elite anything, but all important and productive players.

The important this is that Byrnes has the right attitude and will leave no stone unturned to reach his full potential. He can obviously play, too. Some of his highlights showed off his evasive skills. It's an attribute that few of our players possess.
