But saying his body is no longer capable of the weekly rigours of AFL footy is not 'besmirching' anyone. If you think it is then thats your problem. There is no shame in giving your all over 12 years so that your body cant do it anymore. Happens to every single footy great that has ever played the game. Leigh Matthews, Gary Ablett, Wayne Carey - you name it.

Sam himself has said in interview after interview since 2010 that his body is under pressure and he didn't see himself playing much longer.

Its hardly 'besmirching'.

How was Fisher "besmirched".

Stating a fact, nobody's fault, doesnt make him and idiot or a loser, just fact. He is not the answer to our back line. His body is shot.
Doesnt mean I have forgotten everything he has done for the club, and just how, by stating that he is gone, does that make me less of a supporter.

Agree Mullett. I haven't fogotten how good he was in 08 & 09.
But there are some on here that think being a 'real supporter' is deluding yourself that players can play on for an eternity and anyone who suggests otherwise is some kind of traitor.

All careers - even the true greats - come to an end - and its usually because their body gives up on them. It is nothing to be ashamed of or to deny . Lets just celebrate the great career he had.
