Just re-read the article.

a) SANFL are looking to expend $190M on West Lakes.

b) Among the 50,000 seating requirement, and others, is that the SANFL will reap a financial benefit in leaving West Lakes.

c) Port Adelaide moving games to Adelaide Oval, seeking larger returns for the financially embattled club (sound familiar?), would not be on the agenda if AFL games were moved to Adelaide Oval.

d) SANFL to have 50% control of Adelaide Oval.

e) West Lakes require all AFL games played there and "no leakage" of revenues from AFL games - for obvious reasons!

So it may be that, in the event Port Adelaide seek to move games to Adelaide Oval for financial gain (versus West Lakes), West Lakes would need to attract other matches because (assumably) the venue would not survive with just 11 events a year - being Adelaide home games.

You would need to look at exactly where the SANFL are going to attract (firstly) $700,000- then an operational and profit margin - but that is their problem!

Interesting.
