Keep number 9 at all costs... Unless we get Judd of course!

If the Eagles want two top ten draft picks, that lets out Collingwood, they dont have any.
If we could get a good kid from Carlton or Richmond plus their 2nd round pick, 19, 20, it might be worth while. The kid would have to be a good one though.

i would think that the eagles would want to ensure they had a pick high enough to get young morton....
They will definitely go for either Morton or Palmer with the pick/picks they get from the Judd trade, if not both.
As hard as it is for the Eagles fans at the moment, they will come out of this trade very well i would think.

God point Stinger, so you think more like a top 3 pick and another first rounder.

Maybe this year?

I thought it has already been reported that they would want 2 x top 10 picks with one of those being in the top 3-5. It very much appears that they have their eyes on Carlton's pick 3. That would add to the Morton theory !!

There is some merit in considering trading our pick 9 for a later first round pick say 13 or 14 if you could pick up an OK player as well a la Richmond did with Polak and also end up with someone like Spider junior at the dogs with your first round pick.

of those Nathan Jones would be what I would go for. Proven gun midfielder would round out out team nicely.

I would think for pick 9 we would get either Judd or Kerr ao both if we also gave them our second round. Lets get really tough at least Judd for pick 9.

Trade Pick 9 for multiple 2nd or 3rd round picks. We need to start recruiting now for when our next lot of retirements come through.

Here's a list of who has gone at pick 9 in the last 10 years.......

1997 Chad Cornes (Port Adelaide)

1998 Mark McVeigh (Essendon)

1999 Cadyn Beetham (St Kilda)

2000 Kayne Pettifer (Richmond)

2001 Luke Molan (Melbourne)

2002 Hamish McIntosh (Kangaroos)

2003 David Trotter (Kangaroos)

2004 Jordan Russell (Carlton)

2005 Mitchell Clark (Brisbane Lions)

2006 David Armitage (St Kilda)

2007 ?????????

What about a scenario where Carlton gets to offer the Eagles 2 top 10 picks but get to keep pick 1 and they keep Fev...

We trade pick 9 to Carlton for Andrew Walker who is a good young player with pace.

Carlton offer picks 3, 9 and either Kennedy or Scotland for Judd.

We get a young, speedy mid who will end up a cracking player for us.

Carlton get to team Judd with Fev, Murphy, Gibbs, Pick 1, Stevens etc

Eagles get pick 3, pick 9 and either Scotland or Josh Kennedy.

I like it for us, but reckon that Walker would command more than pick 9 (was pick 2 in 2003 draft).

If the Blues do not trade their No 1 (which has been confirmed as being able to be traded....)

You would imagine that as WC have flafgged that as they want draft picks....that the most likely two clubs would be the Blues and Tigers each with picks 3 & 2.

But with their next picks being 20 and 18...I would imagine that a deal of

2 & 18 or even 2, 18 & 19
Or 3 and 20 are not attractive enough.
The Cats for example had to trade two good picks for Ottens....and Judd is alot more valuable than Judd.

So that either the Blues or Tigers will need to trade a player to gain another pick.

The wildcard could be Essendon if they hand over say their pick 6 PLUS Ryder and Jetta. having lost their very marketbale player in Hird the Dons would love to get Judd....plus his pace is what they need.

Oh When the Saints wrote:Never trade a first round pick unless the deal is heavily in your favour.

Correct.

That's exactly why we traded our first round pick (number 13?) two years back for Fergus Watts.....hmmm.......and Armitage at number 9 as yet has delivered nothing (time will tell if that's a good selection!).

Anyway, what I'm getting at is that we haven't been that good re drafting/trading in recent years, so I'm open to anything at this stage!
