Hawthorn won't boycott, but if they do the points will definitely be shared... perhaps all 4 may may given to the Hawks

media supposition after Jeff said they would check every blade of grass---
he didn't actually say they wouldn't run out

But just think an early night and our boys stay safe :  8-)

MX reported their football manager saying they won't play unless they decide the surface is safe. Which is sort of like saying they won't play if Etihad Stadium is on fire.

It's probably Kennett's way of trying to get the AFL to actually do something about it.

Has Steven Baker been named grounds Keeper? After all there is a spot just over the centre at the Coventry end that he is very fond of. Rumour has it that grass never grows there. The old rule is "thou shall not spill a farmer's blood ye no harvest shall ye yield"!

Would that give Collo the right to charge extra for heating?

Ross's comment on the ground
Lyon expects Nick Dal Santo, who was a late withdrawal last week with lower back tightness, to return to the senior line-up and he said he has no concerns about the surface at Etihad Stadium which has come under fire from the likes of Hawthorn president Jeff Kennett.

"It's a battle no-one's going to win," he said.

"I can guarantee there's life, death, taxes, and we'll be playing at Etihad and the game will go on."

"We love Etihad Stadium, we love playing there, it's our home game, it's going to be a cracker, it's Friday night footy, so let's get on with it."

the whole thing is laughable. as if the hawks would ever jeopardise their chances of finishing top 4 b/c they don't like the surface.

It wouldn't surprise me if the Hawks wind up asking for a change of venue. It would surprise me if they actually got one.

There may be a genuine concern,

that with the shifting surface and loose divots,

that it may be more difficult,

to find Buddy's fangs!

Why would anyone want to play St Kilda at Etihad?

Nice try Jeff.

Their footy manager was on SEN saying that they inspect with the AFL but have no way of stopping the game going ahead. They are just setting up the situation for suing the AFL if a star goes down on the surface.

All pontificating and no real story here.
