Goose....

Post: # 849452Post saintwill66 »

Learnt today from an "impeccable" source that Goose Maguire has finally had the steel pin and associated bolts removed from his seriously broken leg. This may well explain why he has not been put to the ultimate test in the Seniors in 2009.

I do not have medical expertise, but it is not hard to believe that while the pin was in his leg Goose may well have lacked the confidence to go at full pace in both running and kicking....and now he has a full 4 months to get back to full fitmess for 2010. A fully fit Matt Maguire will be a decided asset to the Saints and I reckon he will be mustard keen to prove his full worth.

Has nothing to do with it unfortunately - I wouldn't be expecting the removal of the pin to have any impact what so ever. Goose may improve but this is not the reason.

I've never seen a bad St.Kilda player - that's just how they are.

They don't remove pins by magic or by dissolving them.
They are removed surgically so there will be some recuperation time involved.
But he should be able to get in a full pre-season.
By the end of next year, he, the club, and the rest of the competition will know what his best is.

Hey, if this step helps him mentally...I wish him well.

Agreed.

Maybe the Saints have learned from the Nathan Brown and Matthew Egan experiences which haven't gone too well.

He is still there so I hope that the fitness and coaching staff have his best interests at heart, and I am sure they do. Maybe next September, the media will be talking about the great comeback that Matt Maguire has had.
I really really hope so.

Good luck Matt.

I'd imagine that would be one hell of a incision to get the plates and screws out. Do they use a medical polyfilla to patch up the holes left by the screws?
How long before he regains full strength in his leg after this procedure?
I'd imagine it might set him back a month, just a guess though.

Another opportunity awaits!

I heard he'd pulled the pin, maybe I misunderstood.
