ablett groin problems?

Post: # 761499Post saintjake »

again had a massive handball to kick ratio
5 kicks 24 handballs,
makes me wonder if there is something wrong with his groins.
in the past, kicked alot more

who knows. Noticed one point in the game , no pressure on him did 2 360's looking for a handball instead further for a lead. So maybe there is a niggle there somewhere.

You mean like how Ball and Judd never played with groin problems?

Indeed a good observation.

Rounding figures out, he has had the following average per game stats over the past 2.5 seasons...

2007 14K 12H
2008 14K 15H
2009 12K 24H

And statistically it's resulted in the best form of his career.

I thought he was just under pressure, and then perceived pressure when he probably had space and time. Backs up the argument that keeping "goal side" of Ablett is the trick....

Gablett has groin problems so he is forced to handball.
However when he is inside scoring range his groins are fine so he always kicks for goal.

How does one go about treating a groin injury? Putting ice-packs on the affected area?

In the first half did anyone else see Ablett go to ground and stay there for about 3-4 seconds.

A Freo player then retrieved the ball and ran straight passed him with Ablett looking on in no hurry to get back to his feet.

Saw a similar thing from him in the Geelong Essendon game.

If that was Richard Tambling it would be back page news.

Either he's really hurting, or he's becoming increasingly arrogant as a footballer.

He gets more stats if he handballs - meaning the ball goes less distance away and give him opportunity to get more possessions in less time.

If he went to kick he wouldn't be racking up his ridiculous 40+ possesion games, and that shows how useless the stats are in determining how good he is. 35 disposals from Montagna, with big, long, direct kicks instead of link up handballs, are far more valuable.

He had an off game and still got 29 touches...

If Ablett has groin problems, for the love of god somebody tell me how to injure myself the same way.

I don't think I've ever seen a side attempt to get the footy into one player's hands more than Geelong try to get it into Ablett's.

It's a big reason why he racks up so many touches.

Regardless of what is going on further up the field, if Ablett is in space he will get the footy.
