Tried listening today to SEN and just got fed up with Bomber barracking and Hudson cr@ping on, trying to be funny (ever notic ed how serious he takes a game when the Cats are playing??) when all I wanted know was where the friggin ball was!!

I turned over to 774......unbelievable quality difference. Unbiased, clear, insightful and I could actually follow the game. Stan Alves was very good with some insightful comments.

I know what Im listening to from now on - stuff the Triple M bum chums and pathteic Hudson.

I always listen to the ABC call now. They do a great job actually calling the game.

Yep, 774 are clearly the best station to listen too when it's your own team,for all the reasons you've said. Stan is very good. Gerard Wheatley has a nerd like appearance,but he is just about the best caller in the game I reckon. Drew annoys me..he's always on about stupid stats,trying to create amazing stats "He's kicked 2 in 7 minutes,at this rate he'll kick 32!" ....he always going with "at this rate.."

If you want a bit of casual listening to a neutral game TripleM are pretty funny. Especially before the game when they're getting stuck into the Bristol
Rex is a disgrace to listen too if it's our game. Get's your hopes up in his call...starts screaming "and he kicks a goal" 5 seconds before the player has even kicked it.....half the time it misses, this is inbetween all his ridiculous sayings and tape recordings that come into the commentary.

I'm with you, Teflon. 774 are clearly ahead of the pack with their footy broadcasts. Even Drew Morphett is tolerable in comparison to the like of Hudson and Hunt. Plus, I've always been a fan of Stan Alves' special comments.

I too tried to listen to SEN up until 1/2 time when I couldn't stand it
anymore and switched to 774

I was at the game and found their call was not remotely close to what was
happening on the ground.

Mainly just rubbish banter from Brownless and Hudson.

I'd agree though that Drew Morphett's commentary was slanted towards Essendon.

I normally don't listen to the radio when I'm at the footy but did to try and identify the Bomber players.

I'm not an enormous fan of Drew as a caller (see Jonesy's comments) but I can honestly say that after years and years of hearing him on radio and watching him on telly, that I had no idea of who he barracked for.

Unlike Tim Lane, Steven Quartermaine, etc etc...

Hudson is actually quite poor on radio....He commentates like he is doing television. Must he forget listeners are not following the vision with their eyes?

My problem with 774 is their callers and special comments people seem to be about 20 years behind the game, in some cases even longer. They seem to struggle with understanding how the modern game evolves from play-to-play, quarter-by-quarter. Their views would have been valid in 1989. Not now.

3AW pre-game is sharp but hopeless in game.

Triple M, for all the blokeyness, has the footy smarts to understand both the broader tactical battles and the individual contests within. By far the best. Entertaining, honest and not afraid to pull punches.

Drew Morphett gets sucked in a bit by momentum.

Was listening in the car in the first quarter and he was all over us.

Saying we were unbelievable, essendon were no chance, second rate blah blah blah etc.

Then when the wheel turns he is all over them. Just a bad habit he has always had.

Whately is definitely the best in the game.

Morphett is incrediby annoying and ruins the ABC to some extent. Alves is calm and knows his stuff and Mark Maclure isn't bad either.

The ABC Adelaide team kills me though, so biased not to mention Peter Walsh's irritating style.
