MORE sauce please. A lot more. Any sort will do. You never acquire a taste for humble pie.
St Kilda is much better than some of us thought. OK, me.
Oh god... Sheahan's jumped on the bandwagon.

What have I learnt from old pruneface jumping on our bandwagon
I've learnt that he is an absolute disgrace. We know that the humble pie that he wants plenty of (tomato) sauce on is filled with runny egg that is going to end up all over his face.
Anyone who likes their eggs runny and puts tomato sauce on them is an absolute disgrace myself included !!

Mikes tipped us once this year... ONCE....
Despite many on here, I used to really rate his opinion and take his articles seriously...
This year I have lost heaps of respect for his football knowledge... And not JUST cos he tips agaisnt us, but because he obviosuly hasnt watched us closely and understood the quality of our play... It should not take 6 COMPREHENSIVE wins to wake up...
Alarm bells should have been ringing after our win against the Crows away... But what did Mike do... He went on to tip West Coast the next week, who we beat by about 100... Oops...
He's just another dud journo to me now unfortunately... Get back on the Carlton bandwagon Mike... We dont want you...

Or, he's pumped us up last year, without taking into account our (then) newish coach, unsettled playing style, retiring players, etc. Having obviously filled some holes in our line-up pre-season, even the least astute footy observers would be able to tell we were going to be at least as good as last year - at least, without hindsight, that was my POV.markp wrote:To be fair to Mike, we have teased before....
And even such lofty experts as Caro and Aka tipped us to slide this year!
Who cares.... bring on the Filth
Could I be biased?

Even better then, we've made him look like a goose yet again.degruch wrote:Or, he's pumped us up before, without knowing taking into account our (then) newish coach, unsettled playing style, retiring players, etc. Having obviously filled some holes in our line-up pre-season, even the least astute footy observers would be able to tell we were going to be at least as good as last year - at least, without hindsight, that was my POV.markp wrote:To be fair to Mike, we have teased before....

We've just gotta accept that we will usually be overlooked by journo's (even if a little less so now)... they'd rather find any excuse to talk about the filth or the scum.
You watch when/if we smack the filth next week, it'll be all about the pies and mick.....
Fine by me.

Sheahan is the best and most objective journo writing regularly in the papers IMO (although Buckley is certainly coming on).
I think the abuse of him on here is childish.
If you don't think anything of him, then who would you like?
The gossip-mongering Caro?
The imbecilic Patrick Smith who knows so little about football that he wouldn't notice if there was one wedged up his crack?
Martin "my brother is a famous novelist so everything I say is incredibly intellectual and important" Flanagan?
Tim "I hate St Kilda almost as much as I love myself" Lane?
Do any of you have any genuine reason for disliking Sheahan other than the fact that he isn't a biased St Kilda supporter?
All that said, the logic of Sheahan's article is a bit hard to follow. It seems to go something like this.
1. Lyon turned St Kilda into a dour, defensive-minded bunch of losers.
2. Lyon then started to get us to play better, but we still weren't good enough to beat the Cats or Hawks.
3. Now we are even better and could possibly beat the Cats and Hawks.
So full credit to Lyon, he has improved us out of sight from what he had turned us into in the first place. What a great coach!!
I think what lies behind this is that (unlike most of his journalistic peers) Sheahan thought the decision to sack GT was stupid and/or hates
Butterss and/or isn't an enormous fan of Lyon (because of the way he dodges and weaves and dissembles when Sheahan and other journos put a question to him about just about any subject).
