Alarming percentage

Post: # 736121Post Sainter_Dad »

Not ours - but Essendon and Brisbane Lions - currently sitting 4th and 5th - so will probably be in the 8 at the end of this weekend - have a percentage of less than 100%

This speaks well of the way that we are playing - in fact at the start of this round we were 3 games and a shite load of percentage clear of 4th. In fact Geelong have only increased their percentage by 4% after todays 51 point win over Sydney!

It is in our hands to keep up the fantastic start to this year as no-one can catch our percentage - only we can lose it!

I've been trying to work out the last time a team had a percentage of 195 or greater going into round 7 with 6 wins. I think it was 1897, the first year of the VFL. Perhaps someone can correct me.

1991 - west coast
after 6 wins and a bye they were 206%

They beat essendon by a goal in R8 and their % went down to 186

And I note 1952, Collingwood. That Weagles record is going to be hard to beat since it goes to Round 14. Then again, the bye changes everything (that's my story and I'm sticking to it) so we should ignore 1991 completely.

The Weagles back then were a WA rep side also.
