No injury concerns.........WTF????

Post: # 736010Post saintsRrising »

Just listening to SEN..

Talking on the Saints....and state that we are a side with no injury cocerns.

I have read similar in the newspapers.

I mean WTF...no injury concerns????

Now yes we have had the most stable senior team in the AFL this year in terms of minimal numbers of players used for the senior team...and in terms of changes from week to week.

But no injury concerns? Talking about lazy commentry and journalism.

* Roo, Schneide and Amitage....vitualy no pe-season.

* Dempster out till mid-ear. max perhaps similar.

* Allen out for year
* Goose now playing again..building fitness and form
* Raph was out for many weeks..

* x has done his acl....and X most likely would have forced his way back into our best 22.

* King out injured presently.

* Kosi was out briefly...

If you look at our best possible 22...for the Pies game this week we will not have:

Max, Dempster, King and X. At least 3..if not 4 would be in our best possible 22.

So why are many in the media staing that the Saints have no injury concerns???

Now it is true that we now have better depth and so injury affects us less...but we do have significant injury concerns at present.
And with Max out..we are missing one of our elite players.

So for example..if you had your best 10 players out...but had played with an unchanged 22..would that mean that you had no injury concerns?

Now stabilty is defintely a big plus....but personally I think it is a lightweight statement for the media to state that we have no injury concerns....when we actually have quite a reasonable list of injuries.

Not exceptionally high...but not any better than many of our competitors.

Most of those injuries you talk about are old. Only serious ones are Allen and X for the year. Dempster and Max won't be rushed back and we don't need to. King is only short term. Pretty good really.

I am not sure when an injury occurred is that relevant...

If a player cannot play in the first 22 due to complete unavailabilty..or he lacks match condition/practice post injury...then it would still be an injury concern would it not....??

Now if the Media were saying....few (etc) then fair enough...but no injury concerns

By my reckoning we are missing 3 or 4 players from our best 22 (some may say 5 or even 6) due to injury, which to me means that we have at some injury concerns. :shock:
