Thanks to those who gave updates, but where is the official results, best players etc?

Looked on Sporting Pulse official VFL page, and after taking 5 minutes to register (why?) and clicking on results, nothing.

Its embarassing that you can't get this info an hour after the game, after all, it is the 2nd best comp in Australia.

We really are a long way behind the world in terms of sports coverage, eg no live football ever from one of the broadcasters.

Embarassing really, makes you wonder when they talk 1 billion bucks for the next media rights stuff and we can't get basics, what the hell is going on.

If the AFL is serious, ask for less, but ensure everything in the media is a grade, not amateur hour

Neither Clarke mentioned in the best....so perhaps this is Big Ben's moment. Stretch the Doggies for height as it seems unlikely both King and Kosi will play.

Can not consider rucking Blake against Hudson and Minson.

We saw the lack of "output" when only Gardiner remained against Port Adelaide with Lade and Brogan treating Blake like a rag doll.

We need 2 genuine ruckmen each and every week - and the way we have prospered so far in 2009 is a testament to King maintaining his form from 2008 and Gardiner continuing to build on his marked improving form thru 2008, and now playing excellent footy.

Hasn't the lesson been learnt by all yet?

The game starts in the ruck contest and you can not concede this position under any circumstances.

Awaiting Zebraman's excuse for NOT marking the ball that went out on the full and onto Beach road-- at one point it Looked like Goose would need to either climb the fence or get someone out the gate-- friendly jogger returned it

wind played havoc with any play- you could almost see the ball going backward- as that one shot at goal did- North nadles the kicking for goal better when kicking with the wind- Sandy struggled with getting it forward cleanly- both backlines did well

general impression was that the Premiers- North were more solidly built and stable on their feet- wind was excessive but north would be used to that from the back blocks of Ballarat-

Too cold wet and windy to mark the ball...actually Goose had to jump the fence twice....

Bloody awful day for football...when we played North Ballarat last year it was virtually identical to today...

The only good part of the day was to drop into the The Bay hotel in Mordialloc and catch an hour of Phil Para playing the blues...

McEvoy was excellent again...X.Clarke was very good early....Raph was pretty ordinary I thought....missed an easy shot for goal from 30 out...even with the howling wind he should still have kicked it...he also appears to duck his head when going for a mark..other saints players who stood out...Armitage...Maguire...Howard..iles..

Steven played and did ok..

Heyne likewise..

Stanley is getting better and better

Fisher went pretty well too...

Can't see Raph getting a call up this week on yesterdays performance...

Depending on how bad Kings groin is, maybe McEvoy can get a very well deserved chance

Williamstown and Williamstown next Saturday....conditions were horrendous at Sandy yesterday...goodness knows what it was like at Williamstown as the ground is right next to the sea with no protection

Not a good day at all yesterday...fully expected to win that one

Printer friendly Text size+- NORTH Melbourne forward Corey Jones was the star of the show in the VFL yesterday, leading premier North Ballarat to its first win of the season. The Roosters, who had the bye last week, responded from a 78-point Round 1 thrashing at Port Melbourne with a dogged 14-point win against Sandringham at a windswept Trevor Barker Oval.

Jones, 28, who has played 146 games for North, had 27 disposals, took six marks and booted two goals playing forward and in defence and will come under consideration for Friday night's game against Collingwood at Etihad Stadium.

"Hopefully I can get back up (in the seniors), but that's the coach's call. I'm just pleased to get a couple of kicks. That's all I can do," Jones said.

Roosters coach Gerard FitzGerald said Jones's leadership was vital in a scrappy game.

"When you bring players back such as Corey, they have to realise that they can be very good examples and role models, and I thought he was," he said.

The only downside for Jones was a rough conduct report with David Gallagher.

Roosters midfielders Tom Roach, Brett Goodes and Myles Sewell combined for 69 disposals to help the premiers.

Sandringham spearhead Nick Sautner was the leading goalkicker on the ground with three but had a tough battle against Roosters captain Shaune Moloney, who was reported for bumping or making forceful contact to St Kilda-listed ruckman Ben McEvoy.

McEvoy, 19, continued his strong start to the season with 13 kicks, five marks and 17-hit-outs, while rookie defender Luke Miles was a stand-out for the Zebras with 30 touches.

Xavier Clarke (23 possessions) and Raphael Clarke (18) were serviceable for Sandringham, while key defender Matt Maguire got through his third straight VFL game unscathed.

"He (Maguire) is working really hard to rebuild his body and rebuild his match fitness and hardness so he took another really positive step in the right direction," Sandringham coach Andy Lovell said.
