Bakes showed he is on the way, got smashed a couple of times going the ball but bounced back up. A mark of a hard man. Haselby tried to ruffle him but he was a bit smarter and didn't get involved.

However, the news wasn't all terrific for the home side with key big man Justin Koschitzke forced from the field very early in the encounter.

His side didn't miss him and it was confirmed precautionary measures were taken with a slight strain to Koschitzke's left hamstring.

Really surpised that nobody rated his game. His clean hands in crunch situations was imo nothing short of saintsational

Yeah I thought he was finished to be honest but he has bounced back nicely. How good was he bouncing back after being crunched with a knee (some freo dud) in a marking contest on the boundary line. Tough as nails.

Proudly assuming the title of forum Oracle and serving as the inaugural Saintsational ‘weak as piss brigade’ President.

I think that Bakes is a bit like Maxy, in that they both tend to be forgotten a bit and underrated. Always give 100% and always have an impact on the game, but because they are always consistant, and because they do as much good work off the ball as on it, they fly under the radar a bit. Great to have Bakes back. Never doubted for a minute that when he returned he'd be straight back in the game.
