Has this been done before RE - Membership drive

Post: # 702865Post Cairnsman »

I heard on the radio this afternoon that the Penrith Panthers (that's an NRL team for those in the deep south) arranged for their senior players to cold-canvas via the telephone for members. Apparently it was successful and even become a bit of competition amongst the players as to who could sign the most members.

I was wondering if this had been done by any AFL clubs?

Imagine if you received a phone call out of the blue from say Roo. Would that make you sign-up if he was putting on the hard sell or would you treat him like all other tele-marketers and just give him a mouthful and hang-up?

Bloody good idea.

We need to do something like this urgently IMO.....the time to hit the panic button re memberships is NOW, not in 2 months time.

You need to build from a decent base.

Yeah that's what I thought. I reckon it would have to yield results. Why not do it. Somebody should ask Archie.

If a member has not renewed their membership, a bumper sticker should be posted to them stating: "I was a member last Year". It would at least make them think what a dumb bumper sticker it was.

I once spent a year in Adelaide, I think it was on a Sunday.
