The trouble is Bob I think we are are compulsive recyclers. You know the ones - go along & grab all the crap everyone else has thrown out on the nature strip. We seem quite happy sifting through the rubbish thinking that we will discover the next Banga Harvey. :D Afraid lot's more misses than hits.

i haven't seen the kid play, so i really cannot comment on him specifically.

but in general terms i do think 20 or 21 is too young to make a call on whether they'll make it or not.

raph clarke is a good example.

would have been cut half way through the season if it were up to some on here, yet he finished the season as a walk up start in our best 22.

was named most improved player and was in our best in the final we won.

they do take a while to come on. often it's simply a case of them realising they belong at the top level.

fwiw i think the bulldogs might have made the call too early on farren ray ... or at least i'm hoping so.

A friend on mine is good mates with Nick Carter the former Fitzroy & Brisbane player and Bendigo Bombers captain.

He says Nick reckons Hislop has the ability and heart to be a 200 game AFL midfielder, if he gets his head screwed on straight. Says he is as tough as nails but too much of a lad.

A rookie spot could be a decent punt.
Definately not a draft pick in a deep draft IMO.

Hislop could return to Bombers
THE 2006 draft was seen as one of the best of all time but one of the top 20, Tom Hislop finds himself on the market once again. Hislop was delisted by Essendon after just two years on the list. He was reportedly set to train with another Melbourne-based club before Bombers coach Matthew Knights gave him another chance at Windy Hill. Hislop will train with Essendon and could be picked up again on the rookie list.
