favicon

Post: # 671940Post doggerel »

Does anyone know the history of Saintsational's favicon (the white box with an 'M' in it that appears in the address URL when you access the site). These are easy to make and install on a site. Why is this site's icon so gay?

I've now learned:

1) a new word and
2) that you can customise favicons.

This site just keeps giving.

I didn't realise small pixelated icons could have sexual preferences. Ah, you learn something new every day!

Make a really small one ...same as you would make and resize an avatar ..then save it and there should be a browse option ..find the saved image and use it ..

Yes. Normally the site designer would produce one and host it on the site, and embed some code into the home page such that it turns up in the URL on the left. I was unaware that users could customise it at their end. Guess I'll do that!

The favicon of this site is the default one from the forum software. For an administrator to change it's as easy as replacing the favicon.ico file with a custom one.

Of course you need an active admin (with full access) for that.

In Firefox, how are people changing their favicon for their bookmarks?
Or are you guys using an add-on like BelfastSaint suggested.

The easiest way to customize your favicon is to copy one from an existing site ...
sainters.com and westofmoorabbin both have good St Kilda favicons.

Ive got Firefox (WAY better than Internet Exploder IMHO) and I just use the defult icon which is a tiny sheet of paper with one corner folded down. As long as I can get to the site the "favicon" makes no differance to me
