As archie says, the Lions have picks before us in the draft.

Even if Cousins expresses the desire to play for the Saints, it doesn't stop the Lions from drafting him.

What about free agency?

Homey - you may want to edit your Subject - not really reflective of the content.

i thought if a a.f.l player that has served a club more than 6 years had the choice of nominating a club of there choice?

Mooted by the players union, but not yet a rule.

Well he will surely go through the PSD instead of the National Draft you would assume.

Brisbane would have to be pretty ballsy to take on a guy like Ben Cousins if he didn't want to play for them.

That would be a VERY gutsy move for a first year coach IMO.

If he wants to play AFL again he will go whoever takes him. If the Bears want him he is going to Brisbane.

the way I see it, the lions are shaping up to be big contenders for Cousins.
There's an increasing number of news snippets filtering through to the local news up here.
They have the salary cap to match any gambit wage demands.
Voss is extremely keen to get some centre line grunt.
The surfing lifestyle up here suits Cousins more than the south.

I know a couple of posters will crow about us not getting him, but he is crucial to us improving in '09.
