Post: # 577935Post MadSaintFan »

Where does everyone think Ferguson will play?

Im thinking as a forward, but I hear he has been used down back for
casey as well.
Has good hands and from memory is a decent kick.

I remember he played 1 game last yr against WC and he showed some real toughness in that game but was dropped for the next week.
Look forward to seeing him resurrect his career, hopefully with a defined role in the team.

As I posted elsewhere, to me Ferguson is a taller version of Brett Voss. Although he's been used mainly in defense I believe he could go ok as a medium sized marking target up forward.
I really hope he can make the most of this because I think he can play but he might not get too many other chances.

Fantastic young man, won himself lots of fans last weekend in Qld. Came to us a forward, but has played mostly in the back line till recently. Good luck Fergie, hope you get your opportunity soon.

Good effort. You only missed one. Round 22 last year against Richmond.

Now do Harvs.

i really do hope ferg gets an extended stay at senior level to prove himself.
6 games seems fair to me, if he cant perform in that period of time its curtains for me.

He should be given 2 in a row and he doesnt get a kick should be dropped as should any player. No one deserves guareented games.

He needs a good chance seeing he was redrafted, I say six games to prove his worth. I actually think he can make it as a forward....

So for example after the third game he has had 5 kicks in 3 games and no goals and we are playing well and no one else derseves to be dropped and someone in the seconds has kicked 15 goals in that time we say bad luck as we want to see what Ferg can do.
I actually think Ferg is a good player but no one should get games if they dont deserve it as it is unfair to the other players.

He definitely needs a couple of games to adjust to playing AFL after so long in the VFL.I hope after this stint we all know where it's at for Ferg.......

I guess he and others may consider it "unfair" they have not got a game , We have had quite a few players who have not been playing well for extended periods this season and possibly don't deserve to keep playing poorly in the firsts.
Sadly we don't have a plugger and no one is going to kick 15 goals for us in the twos (and if they did I'd drop anyone to play him). What I am trying to say is that he needs to be told he will get a good go, without the added pressure of you have only got two games to prove yourself ". Anyone can have two bad weeks (particuarly under the pressure of knowing you are playing for your carrear), but by five or six weeks we should know if he is going to cut the mustard and stay on the list or not, He is a unique position in being redrafted, so why would we redraft him if we don't give him a decent tryout? He has been playing well enough in the seconds for his chance.. Just hope Ross plays Ferg forward.

Unfortunately he has been one of those players who are very good at VFL level but struggles with the step up to AFL
His last game was against the Tigers in round 22 last year and he had a very poor game with only 5 disposals.
I remember watching the match and thinking he was likely to be de-listed.

I wish him all the best, and hope he performs, but deep down I dont think he' up to the grade..

Too short for a key defender, not enough zip for a flanker... just no weapons to make him standout at AFL level..

I hope he proves me wrong..

Agree. He can come into the team for a game every now and then and do a reasonable job, but I can't see him either consistently beating opponents in defence or hurting teams in the forward line. He would have been a good back pocket/flanker in the 90's, but he doesn't have the tools for AFL these days.

If your summary is on the money then i hope they exit him out at years end, with a one way ticket.....
