Dermie the fool

Post: # 545558Post SainterX »

Can anyone tell me what makes that fool Brereton such an expert on when Harvs should retire? As I write this I am watching that clown on Getaway in Switzerland. Gee I never knew they showed all the Saints games over there :P

Surely a big stud/gay icon/absolute loser like him should respect what the man has done for St Kilda and understand that Harvs is the only one who should be making the decision as to when he departs.

are you homophobic?

If not why relate homosexuality to someone you find distasteful when it is well known Brereton is not gay.

Berate Brereton all you like but dont bring your petty little insecurities into the thread.

queer can also mean odd Joffaboy.

As for the rest, I apologise if anybody is offended by any of the other words used in this thread. I am just sick of people trying to tell the man when to retire, and having no respect for what he has done for us. Like I said, Harvs is the only one who can make that call, everyone else should shut their mouths.

Then again I would expect that kind of feedback from someone called Joffa LOL

sainterX I agree wholeheartedly with your sentiments and I am sounding all politically correct I know.

There are a couple of gay supporters who regularily post here thats all.

No biggie.

Dermie is a prize tool for what he has been saying about Harvey.

Shot his mouth off, then went real quiet when Harvs killed Adelaide. Now the whole team had an off night and the idiot is back on his critisising hobby horse.

Prize clown and just ignore his inane blatherings.

When Dermie gave up football or more to the point was told his time was up,
I foolishly thought he had an insightful football brain. Since his retirement, my opinion of his football intelligence has decreased with each season. Basically he is now a moron drowning with hands waving above the water saying "LOOK AT ME".

I once spent a year in Adelaide, I think it was on a Sunday.

Dermi played for Woori Yallock in the YVMDFL grand final last year. Took the place of a very good kid and he did nothing. They lost, but hey, derm got to play in another gf, and that's what matters most...

Unfortunately Dermie is a sympton not the cause.

It seems that all media outlets feel it necessary to draw an audience by being more and more outlandish in their statements regarding the game and it's stars.

This now means we see the horrible site of a former great denigrating the final season of not only a legend of the game but one if it's most humble and honest servants.

Well if the lie detector was correct.....

Then we can no longer call crawf a closet dweller.....

But.....the question was;

Not that I want to agree with Dermie but I believe the saints made a mistake

last year by asking Harvs to stay on and redrafting Fraser. If we win a

premiership than I will happily be wrong. What in effect we are doing is

delaying the development of the young guys. I love Harvey and the Gtrain

but if we don't win the big one this year that would be 40 games we could

have put into Armo, Allen and some other youngsters.

St Trav - what does he offer if we don't win a flag this year - nothing except

taking the spot of a player who could be developed for the future

have you watched a game this year ? Harvey is still getting 10+ possessions each week take away the fact of how old he is and you would find most teams in the comp would continue to play a bloke who is producing the same stats as he is . the thing you got to understand is Harvey isnt taking the spot off anyone if the likes of Armo birss or whoever wants Harveys spot they gotta earn it not get it just cause they are younger . we are playing to win a premiership not to blood newguys the new guys have to earn that spot we are not in a rebuild stage where the results dont matter so we can chuck int the kids for experiance alone

You don't get the point. You have Harvey running around for another year

and we don't make a Grand Final or win the Cup. He retires and the young

fellas haven't had any development time. We need the kids to develop.

Aside from that not being true, we are aiming to win a flag, so his presence is important.

I understand were you are coming from but when does a player need to retire?? Is there a set age that we should send them off to the abyss?? How close do you have to be to a flag to hold on to them??

Was Harves holding up a place on the list last year?? Or is it just this year??

Lastly, is it something as simple as, we win the flag it's the right call, if we don't it wasnt??

He is actually playing quite well ATM, if he was hiding in the forward pocket or getting 4 touches a game, I'd be the first to suggest he be left out in favor of a younger guy (lets face it, they are ALL younger guys to our Harves!)

He is holding his spoty in the team on the merits of his performances, not his reputation, like others I could mention *cough*Hird&Archer*cough*

hell by that logic lets retire kosi roo and dal cause heck they are only takeing the place of a young kid
forget the age and look at the stats would you rather a bloke getting 20 possessions and making an impact or a bloke getting 5 and looking lost ? im all for blooding younger players but not at the expence of a player still performing regardless of his age

It's not about Harvey. It's about what's best for the side going forward and

both Harvey and Gehrig are hanging around for 1 more year. What exactly

is the value of these guys in the side? Would you not rather see Armo or

Geary or Allen or one of the others picking up possessions and developing.

At the end of the year I could be proven incorrect but only if we win the flag.

St Trav there is a difference between a 25 year old who is still developing

and a 37 year old whose game is waning. We play to win every year and

yet we don't. Over the past 2 seasons we have gone backwards not

forward. Look around the league and see which of the top clubs aren't

blooding new players. I think you believe this a criticism of Harvey which

it is not. It is one of the match committee.

Harvey and Gehrig are in our best 22. Geary and Allen are not, its as simple as that. I don't see Harveys game as "waning", I felt he was among our best on Friday night, truthfully. I'd like to see the kids played, but only if they deserve it, not on the merits of them being young.

I refuse to believe that if we fail to win the flag that is was not in our best interests to re-recruit Gehrig and give Harvey another year. That sort of all or nothing approach leads to tanking if we aren't top by round 12.

dermie still is one of the best tv commentators going around

his partnership with garry lyon and eddie made footy entertaining as well as opinionated on match day tactics from coaches (whether right or wrong it was still an opinion)

he is being wasted on getaway...

and for the record he is out of line with comment re harves...but then again if the oldest player from another team was playing poorly or not the star he once was we would be suggesting the same thing most likely...

"It's a work in progress," Lyon said.
