Jason Blake - Welcome back!!

Post: # 538704Post BigMart »

Your mistakes, clangers and turnovers were missed last week...

First three goals to Carlton a direct result of Blake!!!

A good player when he HAS NOT got the ball..

Finished up having a good game. Certainly some great defensive work and good running.

Had a VG game .... as usual he did A job....but...

How slow a decision maker is he....and...

he is very clumsy....and...

his disposal is terrible....but...

His work ethic and courage is first rate.....

Need him in the team, but you cannot have too many of his type..

Tonight wasn't one of Blake's better games. And his skills will never be that great.

That said, his goal kicking has improved enormously over the past couple of years.

Don't let the facts get in the way of a good slag off at one of our own.

First goal he turned it over at half forward, but Gilbert pushing Murphy in the back after he had already dropped the mark was a bigger factor.

Second goal he was not involved in at all.

Third goal he applied a perfect tackle. One person at the ground thought it was high. He just happened to have a whistle.

Tell me that free kick should have been paid against Blake for that second goal, and then i'll know you have no idea about football.

Played a very good game, and set up a few goals too.

I would bet you $100 he was involved in the passages of play that resulted in the first three goals (I just looked at it again to make sure - maybe you should have a look) given that one was a free kick which was absurd.....

I do believe I said he had an overall VG game....but he makes big errors, due to lack of speed....he is slow.

Can we NOT be critical of our own players????? or are they precious....

because overall that was a pretty deplorable effort....against woeful opposition.....

Gilbert and Raph were terrible - how's that for a bagging

I'll PM you my bank account details.

The second goal came from a throw in. Blake was tagging Stevens. Stevens tackled someone, that was the closest either of them came to the ball.

I thought Blake had a reasonable to good game tonight.
Kicked an important goal.

Had (just) one dodgy free paid against him.

No arguments there.

But you just seemed to be making stuff up in you bagging of Blake.

The second goal, just to be sure was kicked by Hampson. A pass from Murphy on the boundary line.

Jason Blake had nothing to do with it.

The ball went out of bounds because Max dropped a chest mark. Blake nowhere to be seen.

Blake I thought had a good game, I even think his disposal has improved.
He may have made some errors early (he had a few mates) but I thought he was very valuable.

Agree we can't have too many Blakes, he is definitely in our best 22, with a full list, IMO anyway.

his disposal has increased dramatically maybe confidence?

however he is a bit slow and I do cringe when our players give him the ball in a think quick situation... but I love him and the hard work he does!

I thought he did pretty well tonight on Stevens imho

he is never gonna be the player to tear a game apart, but u need those kind of contributors each week to do HIS BIT FOR THE TEAM. he plays to his strengths and i am happy to see him continue playing the same role.

He knows his limitations, but sometimes with the pace of the game makes decision making very difficult for players like him.

...same old.

Still dosn't know what to do with it when he gets it.

Im positive coaches uses him tactically to turnover the ball by letting him run loose.

From the same bloke who reckons McQualter is going to be a star?

Fair to say, coaches seem to know a shipload more than you

3 coaches in a row now have played him week in, week out. He's important to our team, and will not miss game while he is fit.

Well then, lets just shut down the entire forum, and all of us can stop having an opinion.....

But then there are posts like yours that don't even bother to express one. Why don't you offer me something to respond to other than the old cliche' that the coaches know more. Thanks for stating the bloody obvious.

Once again, how about an opinion from your own mind there hot shot, instead of gunning other's down by hiding behind the thoughts and actions of past and current coaching personal.

More importantly, these 'three coaches in a row' are the reason I have something to complain about. If they hadn't nor didn't, my problem here would cease to exist.

thats Jones your thinking of.

blake is a bit slow when he stops to think but he's ok when he plays on quickly or passes of quickly.

tbh he's better underpressure than when he has heaps of time. he's also quite good when he focus's on getting the ball, he's a good spoil, and a fair mark, and when he hoofs it, its not bad, its just when he stops to think about it. A bit like goddard was 2 or 3 seasons ago.

He's not stupid, i just think he spends too long thinking of the best option instead of going for the first option.

when he gets rid of it quickly, he usually hits his target.
