scotland??? sewell???? edwards???

this is a bit of a joke this year

joel corey should noy be rated that high as his other midfield buddies are streets ahead of him and get tagged...he doesnt and gets a free reign...

Mike Sheahan wrote:The biggest omission probably is Nick Dal Santo.

Like most observers, I rate him a delight to watch, but, like Ablett of six months ago, he needs to be better. To cope with the attention that comes from opponents such as Cameron Ling.

He has to kick more goals, too. Dal Santo kicked just 9.9 this season.

He should vie with Nick Riewoldt as St Kilda's most important player.

Dear dear me.

I know it's a very tough job to do a top 50,everyone will disagree, but sometimes sheahan makes some alarming choices, and this year is no different.

Geelong won the flag easily, had a brilliant year, deservedly won the flag. However I wouldn't have put it down to a team of superstars, more of a awesome well balanced side with a lot of good players, but not great.
Ablett number one,no,but some could argue a case for him.

Bartel 3,won the Brownlow, but really,Paul Haselby anyone? The problem with the brownlow now is,the umpries just give it to the stat winners. Put a Bartel in a side out of the 8 and he wouldn't get a mention. Quality player don't get me wrong, but not the number 3.

M.Scarlett-Awesome backman, I'd have him around 20-30,not number 5.

J.Corey at 7,good player,that's it though...good player,not top 10 for gods sake!!!!!!

Steve Johnson 10...gifted footballer, dangerous,but 10,you're joking!!!!

C.Ling....Geelong win the flag so I better give a honest battler number 13!

B.Ottens....good player,but again,not top 20.

And the best of all..M.Egan,19,is this some sort of a joke!!!!

Now I'm not Rewoildt's biggest fan in the league, but this year, especially the second half of the season he stamped his arrival as a super player. The only Geelong player you could put in front of him arguably is Ablett. Put blue and white hoops on Nicks jumper this year and Sheahan would have had him number one no doubt!

For what it's worth,my top 5.
1-J.Brown
2-C.Judd
3-D.Kerr
4- M.Pavlich
5-N.Rewoildt

He's a first rate tosser, very full of himself and continues to put out these lists to reinforce how biased and ill informed he is...

Fletcher??? The last time he picked up an opponent he was playing school boy footy and even then he was moved off him at quarter time.

Franklin??? The Hype is amazing when on song but to have him in front of Pavlich and Riewoldt is surely a joke.

Dal Santo??? His year was the equal of Scotland's, the Burgoynes', Malceski's, Hodge's and even Swan's.

Judd??? Even taking into account his injuries, I'm sure his year was good enough to sneak a little higher than 20.

Did he agree or disagree with the Cats having 9 AA? I can't remember or is he using this fluff piece to justify selections?

Geez guys, you have no clue.

Cameron Mooney is obviously a better player than Nick Riewoldt.

He had a much better year too, polling 1 Brownlow vote compared with Riewoldt's fourtee .... oh, wait

They should only play AFL games now when it's raining. Slow games of footy are so much better to watch.

Did Sheehan pick the All Australian team?
He also has 9 Geelong players in the first 22. He also has Nick Riewaldt just missing out. Coincidence?

It is not the school yard type pick..

ie playing to their best and assuming no injury

that is the formula for top 50 at start of year.

THe TOP 50 today- on this season only not just taking into account above etc
..also remember injuries

and his opinion only

Cloke won B&F in a team that missed the GF by less than a kick.

Hird won B&F in his final year.

Cloke, like all key collingwood forwards before him gets a heap of the ball but cant put anything through the big sticks unless he his out 45 metres. Put 30m out directly in front and he will miss.

Hird is, and always will be overrated

So according to Mike the following key forwards had a better season than Roo:-
Brown
Franklin
Pavlich
Lucas
Mooney

I wonder how the clubs those particular players are at would rate their own player's season against Roo's?

I reckon only Brisbane with Brown may take their own player ahead of Roo?

yep i am...Hird played 17 games and still 'managed' to beat players like Scott Lucas (61 goals), Brent Stanton, Dustin Fletcher, etc

Im surprised Essendon havnt named him coach for 2008 yet.

You're missing the point. It's not about market value or who's a better player. Of course Dal Santo would egt snapped up before Scotland. It's about performances for the season just past....regardless of how Sheahan sells it.

Based on that, yes all those forwards arguably did have as good or a better year then Rievoldt.

Kicks Handballs Tackles Marks Goals Behinds

Roo 293 68 20 194 42 26
Mooney 242 88 25 191 67 38
Lucus 292 66 31 159 61 28
Franklin 201 92 49 123 73 62

Clearly these players had much better years than Roo. But next year he'll show them

Keep on rolling Harvs

Travis Cloke won a best and fairest. Works hard despite not having silky skills. Gets the job done.

NDS has nice hair and waxed legs.

Agree.

Anybody who shaves their legs are terrible players.

The whole Saints list shave their legs.

Either that, or one of the drafting criteria is that they have no body hair from birth.
