Watching Suns v Cats
5min left 2nd qtr
Ben King gets his 1st touch
Zip said no…. “Gee King hasn’t got near it…”
“King needs to get in the game “
“Maybe run him on the ball…”
Nothing.
Makes me think Max might just be suffering the St Kilda curse
Become a messiah….or you’re cooked.
Great kulcha that….

Let's compare apples with apples.
Ben kicked 3 and 3 last 2 games, how many for Max?

Re: King ...out of form or
It was interesting he got his first touch up on a wing after rotating with Lukosious. Both need to able to roam to get them into game, hopefully Max can do the same.Teflon wrote: ↑Thu 16 May 2024 9:41pm Watching Suns v Cats

Ben King now has 3 ….but wait for it….
Gold Coast have 9 seperate goal scorers …
Lukosious having a night out…
Who’s taking the heat off Max Kibg so he doesn’t have to do it solo ???? Membrey ??? Hayes?? Caminiti ??
You see a pattern?

Yes we saw how well Hardwick had the Tigers scoring when he was “exhausted…”whiskers3614 wrote: ↑Thu 16 May 2024 11:37pm Maybe Lukosious Humphrey and B King have a coach who values scoring?
Maybe he just has better players ??
2009 Saints top 3 in AFL scores for ….R Lyon coach….
Let’s play a game….what’s the difference you think?

Re: King ...out of form or
Hmmmm. 2009 is a long time ago and that team was already high scoring before Lyon arrived as coach
The rules were different. The game was different...but none the less, Rossy soon had his stamp on that team and they were scoring 9 goals per match
And... let's face it. Who gives a stuff what we scored in home and away back then ...They could only manage 9 or 10 goals in finals

No talent = no coach
We need more talent if Lyon is to be successful.
He doesn't have a magic wand.
He can't do magic tricks.
He can't improve every player he meets.

Clearly hasn't got a magic wand- couldn't win a premiership with good teams.

Vortex and Teffers
You’ve come around have you?!
Thing is
We have probably our best list in 14 years
Why couldn’t the excuse
We just need better players - be used for previous coaches?

Re: King ...out of form or
So here we go again …with the simplistic…
Couldn’t win in 09 after leading inside 50s at HT 38 18 with a team kicking points??
I was there - knew we had **** it and Cats would come
Game should’ve been put away in first half …
Coaches fault …should go on field and kick for them
Sane at Freo - blew their chances with ooor finishing
That’s execution
Got 2 seperate clubs there - us twice …but yeah …bad coaching..fmd

Re: King ...out of form or
1 million percent agree that is absolutely applied to previous coaches.
Haven't you been paying attention for the best part of a decade and at least since the sacking of Richo and Ratts, I have never ever waivered in my belief of the well proven formula that to win a flag you need tbe sum of all parts.
On the surface it would appear we have all the parts at the moment with the exception of the most important part...TALENTED players.
We just need to be patient now and Bassett needs to keep this regime in place for at least 10 years because finding enough talent can't be fixed with a war chest....and don't get started on that.
If the current media was to be remotely true and we are about to throw millions at FAs, then Bassett has proven he is a desperate and clueless and completely out of his depth not to mention all over the shop.
We've been down the war chest path...and failed.
And Lyon would be shown up as a liar because even ye said the plan is to stick at chasing talent for another 2 seasons before chasing FAs.

It only applies to previous coaches IF they had set the standards and footy structures in place to set us up for future success.
Ratten (choose your own pre season) and Richo were amateur hour in comparison to Lyon.
Don’t take my word for it - go ask track watchers who have seen and since commented on the difference in training standards in place under Ross.
So yup, it’s sum of all parts and good players are a must …but a good coach sets the foundations in place so those players can succeed.
Lyons taken sides to GFs for a reason - he knows what those standard to achieve that look like.

Re: King ...out of form or
Lyon is the great cooda-been..almost but not quite. Should never have brought him back. At the start of Ratt's last season the general opinion in pre-season was that this was the fittest and fastest people had seen for a few years at the Saints. Ratts had midfield injuries at the wrong time but wasn't far off getting us into the finals again. Bassat is con artist and Lyon is sitting back doing the bare minimum in his highly paid retirement gig.Teflon wrote: ↑Fri 17 May 2024 8:59pmNot quite Vort.Vortex wrote: ↑Fri 17 May 2024 6:28pm1 million percent agree that is absolutely applied to previous coaches.

Love to know Teffers
How you actually form your simpleton opinions
Fact is
You know FA about how the club actually functions- and neither do track watchers

Our training standards were a joke - N Riewoldt came out and said it
We had 1 pre season where Brett decided it was a good idea to “let players manage their own pre season fitness “

Re: King ...out of form or
That doesn’t even make sense - and you know it
You clearly meant man up - as in play on your man - referring to the players tactics
I clearly meant man up - as in be a man and admit error- referring to the coach
You’re just being a dick - something different!!!

Re: King ...out of form or
What was it you posted about Ross Lyon and how he responded to what Roo had said?
So ... basically you're saying that the coach and players would know more than someone who isn't involved in the day to day...right?Roo Max criticism…inside 4 walls all that matters
That's exactly the same response that Ratts had when Roo started gaslighting him...in fact Ratts went one better...he said Roo wouldn't have a clue how they trained because... the only rare times he'd gone down to Moorabbin was when he wanted free physio
Funny how you agree with Ross, but you think the same response didn't count for Ratts

Re: King ...out of form or
In response to your comments. Roo has never coached, seems to shun any worthwhile involvement in the club and throws barbs from a distance and seems happy to put the boots into coaches he reckons are not up to his lofty standards- never seemed to get over the fact that Lyon walked out years back. I don't hate any coach, but Lyon is yesterday's man and is not a premiership coach, nor do I think Ratts was the greatest coach, but he got us into the finals, and should have got one more year instead being shafted by Bassat and his mates on their nostalgia trip. I've been at a couple of training sessions when Ratts was coach and also now Lyon as coach. I didn't see any "unprofessionalism" back then and saw a fit and fast group who seemed to be enjoying their training and busting out of the blocks, not terribly different to what I've seen recently, though Lyon is clearly more defensive strategist and concentrates a little more on the individual, where Ratts' sessions seemed more overall team or group oriented.Teflon wrote: ↑Fri 17 May 2024 10:25pmThis is the kinda dribble that gives Saibts fans a bad namespert wrote: ↑Fri 17 May 2024 9:58pmLyon is the great cooda-been..almost but not quite.
