I can't believe some of the comments on this page.
There is inside mids and outside mids.
Inside mids need to be strong
outside mids need to be fast.
Clarke isn't blessed with speed (or much endurance really). Therefore needs to be strong around the ball otherwise he will just get pushed off it.
The conditioning and development coach hasn't done their job.

Wow we have stuffed up our development over the last 10 years (and continue to do so)
Are you saying that his face needs to be stronger around the ball? Cause that's where he keeps getting hit

As for endurance ... he has had multiple games with 25+ possessions with a lot being contested ...... does that constitute having endurance?
You're twisting the points being made. No one is arguing that he would have avoided facial fractures by doing weights

I agree.

I think Clark has shown his value as an inside mid, but he hasn't done it across 4 quarters and 100 minutes.

I think Hunter would have disposal numbers a lot higher if he had a tank to play out quarters. His tog averages over the course of his career (time on ground) are a little low.

I'm hoping the penny has dropped and that he's ready to step up and achieve his potential.

Clark has plenty of games with 25+ possessions .... that says to me he has a tank ..... unfortunately for him that his journey has been interrupted these last few years noting the interruptions have had nothing to do with his fitness

2022 none over 25, first game Rd 14 (after rehab)

I ain't twisting anything ... some forumites are questioning his fitness/endurance ... yet he has shown plenty of endurance and physical fitness with 25+ possession games a lot of which are contested.

They're questioning his commitment yet here is coming out thr other side from some pretty traumatic head hits which have nothing to do with fitness

They question why he can't put on muscle mass yet some here better credentialed to speak about body type and genetics have put that argument to bed

Please tell me you weren't excited in his early days with skill and movement he showcased??

I know I was

No reason at 25 years of age why he can't fulfill his promise

But hey ..... he's done .... finished ..... on the scrap heap .... let's make him someone else's weedy problem

I'm 100% a Hunter supporter.

Fingers crossed for the lad. Love what he brings.

Loved how he started 2023 and also loved his input in the Elimination Final.

And, given his unfortunate injury history to date. In how many games has he been unable to play out the full game?

And managed time on the comeback trail?

So statistics, statistics and damn lies

Further, his introduction to AFL football was as a defender - his transition to the midfield more recent and impacted by injuries such as having his face re-arranged

He is a “glider” across the ground with very good skills including being a two sided player which makes him space

We look forward to an uninterrupted future and the contribution he will make to St Kilda’s progress

Why did Clarkson want him?

I would like people to get off the idea of *multiple games of 25+ possies*

Look up AFL Tables for his stats.

87 games played.
25 touches or more? NINE
NINE

His average disposal tally across 87 games is just under 18.
Not bad numbers, but not elite

Wellard you dismissing 2020 where the matches were around 3/4 of a normal game .... plenty of games in 2020 where would have reached over 25+ possessions if they were full length

My post of 8/5/24, 22:33 addressed this very thing.

'but that was Covid, w/shortened game time'

🤷‍♂️

It's about 5 or 6 posts higher up

You're forgiven

It didnt really addresss it because you happily choose to discount adding them to your NINE GAMES ... you could probably add at least half his 2020 games (he played 18 games) to that plus the game where he had his jaw broken into multiple pieces where he had 8 possessions in the 1st quarter before he got hit .... he was our best player up to that point whereafter we fell apart once he went off

So around 25% of his games could be classed as 25+ possessions ...... his 1st half of last year was very good until he copped another broken face

Do you think he is worth preservering with?
