I would say he's no longer interested in being the main fitness dude due to his age but wants to be involved at the Saints so he put in in his temp role and impressed our impeccable CEO enough to get the gig full time..

Will the Saints ever be classed as a good club ?

Sounds like Misson has grown into a new role and excelled.

It’s not a bad sign that the club is promoting those who perform within.

My only concern is does he challenge Ross enough or is he just a yes man? That might be difficult for Misson to do as a newbie in the role who is still learning the ropes as opposed to someone like Geoff Walsh who had decades experience as a footy manager. Hierarchical organisations tend to like their minions and Ross would be fairly hierarchical you would think.

I asked Chat GPT

What does an executive general manager do at a football club and how is it different from a general manager?

Answer
An Executive General Manager (EGM) at a football club typically holds a high-ranking leadership position responsible for overseeing the overall operations and strategic direction of the club. Their specific duties can vary from club to club, but some common responsibilities include:

1. **Strategic Planning:** Developing and implementing the club's long-term strategies, which may involve areas like team performance, financial stability, and fan engagement.

2. **Financial Management:** Managing the club's budget, revenue generation, and financial sustainability. This can include securing sponsorships, negotiating player contracts, and optimizing revenue streams.

3. **Team Management:** Overseeing various aspects of the football team, such as player recruitment, coaching staff, and player development.

4. **Commercial and Marketing:** Building the club's brand, enhancing fan engagement, and exploring commercial opportunities like merchandise sales and marketing campaigns.

5. **Facilities and Operations:** Managing the club's facilities, including stadiums and training grounds, as well as day-to-day operations.

6. **Community and Fan Relations:** Maintaining a positive relationship with fans and the local community, which can be crucial for a club's reputation and support.

The specific roles and responsibilities can differ between football clubs, and an EGM often works closely with the board of directors to execute their vision for the club.

On the other hand, a General Manager (GM) in a football club typically focuses on the day-to-day operations and management of specific areas, such as player recruitment, team operations, or facilities management. While both EGMs and GMs play vital roles in the club, the key difference lies in the scope of their responsibilities. The EGM has a broader, more strategic role, overseeing various aspects of the club, while a GM typically has a narrower, more operational focus within a specific department.

Keep in mind that the titles and roles can vary from club to club, so it's important to review the specific job descriptions and organizational structure of a particular football club to understand the exact responsibilities of an EGM and GM in that context.

You're quite brilliant Shane, yeah..terrific!
