Well Gresh, it was always about the money, wasn't it? Once again you've got yourself a contract befitting a player of much higher talent and output. Take a bow.

Seems he has accepted a pay cut at the druggies of around 100 grand a year.

Essendon: Jake Carslile & #18 to Saints Jade Gresham

Saints; Jade Gresham FA to Essendon #21
#21??? Liam Henry?

We have done pretty well out of #6 to Essendon :D

Guessing he would have had a much larger cut if he stayed with us.

Pick 21 for gresh what a steal for the club. Hope we don’t waste this on Henry, who suddenly become an all Australian calibre player the past 2 weeks.

He has accepted the best offer he got. Obviously, our previous coach may have valued him a lot lot lot more than anyone else.

Madness.

Preferred to have kept him but wouldn’t pay him more than $600K and even that is too high.

FWIW I have no issue with any player chasing money.

They have a limited time in the game and the opportunity to earn reasonable cash when at the top of their powers.

😂 Henry has become AA in the last two weeks and Paddy Dow has now morphed into a better version Robert Harvey.

Good luck to him, I don't actually think it was about the money - his papers were stamped with us and we were ready to move on.

If anything, it was the club tightening the purse strings beyond his worth that drove it.

Got to be happy with the deal, one side can only have so many headless chooks and we still have Byrnes and Jones

Most AFL players don't make exorbitant money after they retire.
But we studied ASX listed company Johns Lyng Group Ltd (JLG) in the last month.
Former Carlton player Adrian Gleeson, Director Investor & Business Relations & Executive Director at Johns Lyng Group Ltd
In FY2022-2023 he made $254,723 in salary & fees, $704,786 short term cash bonus, $180,268 short term performance rights (shares), $25,293 superannuation, $3,005 employee benefits , $90,709 long term performance rights (shares), total = $1,258,784

I cheered for Luke Ball when he played for St Kilda especially when he kicked a rare goal.
I cheered for Jade Gresham when he played for St Kilda especially when he kicked a more frequent goal.

Then I booed Luke Ball when he played for Collingwood.
But am I allowed to boo Jade Gresham when he plays for Essendon.

You have just answered many questions in one sentence. I don't reckon he is worth 600k these days. I reckon after his injuries over the previous two seasons he is only 75% of the player he promised to be.

Good luck to him if he can get $700k a year out of the Bummers. It eases our salary cap considerably; hopefully we replace him with a player who looks before he bombs away into our forward line or at the goals.

Perhaps you should direct that question to Adam Goodes.

Footy is all about money. You can't blame him for accepting an extra 200k.

Everything is relative.

If you can't set yourself up for life earning $500k every year for ten years then you're truly an imbecile.

I've NEVER booed any player, let alone a former Saints player. I prefer not to waste energy on "booing" that could be more productively utilized by getting behind MY side!
Simple as that. :)

Jade is another player in a long line of ex players at our club , who never progressed to become a champion.
I'm sad to see him go and will be p155ed off if he becomes a champion player at Essendon but hopefully his replacement will have the consistency and durability that he lacked

Hasn't been the same since the Achilles.
He might find the new digs brings out his best, or he might play the same way.
Regardless, I don't mind losing him as I'm relieved we didn't offer him more $ than he's worth
