Ha ha ha! That's not a history lesson, it's just more propaganda.
Meaningless traditions, hmmm? Christmas, Easter and ANZAC day ring a bell? Oh that's right they aren't traditions, they are public holiday celebrations, to keep the simpleton slave middle classes amused and spending their hard earned on useless trinkets.

At Christmas we show thanks for the phrase, 'in the name of the lord'.

On Anzac Day, the Vietnamese, Turkish and all those other immigrants our government brought in, celebrate us defending our shores, overseas in someone else's country, just so we could invite them back, to live here and enjoy some cultural celebrations like ANZAC day.

Christmas Day, that's a day off for pedo priests. They are kept busy celebrating Christmas and peace on earth, the banks and other lenders love it.

Easter. This one celebrates the memory of the now extinct, but once prolific, Chocolate Bunny, that laid eggs.

No. No. No. We definitely don't won't the actually rightful owners of the place celebrating any traditions. That's not socially acceptable at all.
Are you suggesting that ANZAC day is a meaningless tradition?
Is this discussion headed down a tenebrous corridor, or am I missing your point entirely?
I'm not suggesting any such thing. I am echoeing the thoughts of men I am related to who fought in the wars this country and New Zealand, have engaged in.

While one man was fighting for the freedom of men in another country, he was treated like fauna in his own country.

And, while he was permitted to fight, he wasn't permitted to vote or drink in the same bar as his digger mates. He was paid less for the same job, done better and he was under constant threat of having his children removed from him because of a policy, made by the government of this country, that men of his colour, were to be excluded from having the same civil rights, mainstream society enjoy, despite not only being born in the country, fighting for the country try but also, despite being a native of the country, whose family, could lay claims to having protected this land for thousands of years.

We remember those who fought and died, we honour those that fought and survived.
There is a nation of people living on this Island, that have been fighting for their country and freedom since day 1of the European invasion. They fought against insurmountable odds.
Clearly, ANZAC day only has special meaning for our own, who ever they where.

ANZAC day means different things to different people. Perhaps meaningless was the wrong category. Did I inflame your ego? Not my intention, I'm sorry if you were offended, thank you for asking.
I don't understand the purpose of the passive aggressive reply, your original post was at best ambiguous, if not directly suggesting that Anzac day was a meaningless tradition, hence I asked for clarification.

I apologize if politely asking this question has upset you.

Some traditions are in fact meaningless to many Australians.

It was pretty clear in CQ's first post.

Most Australians don't celebrate Chinese New year like Australian born citizens of Asian descent do?

You don't celebrate what Muslim Australians (who are also Australian citizens) celebrate do you?

Oh... that's right ...I forgot... they're not really Aussies!

The whole idea about anyone's traditions is to acknowledge and respect. That's what indigenous round is all about

I love the jumper and will be ordering one

60,000 years (apparently) compared to 250 years of achievement. It’s laughable to compare.
Again...the narrative is that what they had wasn't much. The fact that they didn't build factories or invade other people's lands doesn't mean they didn't achieve

You are fkn clueless as to the 'richness' of their lives pre the invasion and colonisation. We are talking about culture and art and sustainability and prosperity...

...but not in terms of Right Wing white man's prosperity. No bank account. No need for never ending growth for the sake of growth. No profits and no pillage and plunder and waste

Spud
One delusional individual right here ^^

So it was some utopia with no hierarchy or social pecking order or items of value to exchange goods grown or obtained? Hilarious.

Well yes...you are right...there were similarities, but I think their philosophy on life and their relationship with the land and water was slightly different.

They weren't looking to destroy the host that sustains them. They 'achieved' sustainability and respected their environment.... for 60,000 years as you said

My son asked me a few years back when he was 18 or so whether we'd have a climate disaster in 20 or 30 years time....I said I believe there are more smart people around than fwit politicians and corrupt politicians with no spine and humanity will find solutions.

I'm an optimist. I'm not a climate warrior Mr Annoyed.

Johhny dum batts: Would it be possible to add the nuclear power emblem?
Bobby Brains: Nah
JDB: ..eh..but why not?
BB: It would be disrespectful.. Shame on you! You are what is wrong with this country ,Johnny dun batts. Fair dinkum..why say something like that?
JDB: Well it is a cool mark with its three segments rotating around a core. And I think the spiraling atoms one is good too.
BB: What has that got to do with recognizing indigenous land..something that we stole and exploited?
JDB: Well, it shows recognition of the old and the new. Do you know that nuclear energy is making a big come back..??
BB: What the...??
JDB: Yeah, and 60% of current uranium mine leases is on native title land. After Fukushima, there was a downturn, but boy oh boy, it is coming back big time. the Chinese have just bought a massive mine lease too.
BB: You are sick JDB...really sick...you need to take a rest. What the f is wrong with you man? You outta buckle up that mouth of yours. you are a fool.

My reply was not passive nor aggressive.

You highlighted a question. Not a response.
My question was a question, maybe it was a passive aggressive question, is that a thing?
I think I got your answer, even though you avoided answering it.

When I was a kid in the 1970's and was surrounded by Vietnam vets. I can tell you that the so called tradition meant very little to them, there was no embrace from the Nation on their return and they were often not welcomed in RSL and they were not invited to celebrate ANZAC Day.

Maybe shanegrambeau thinks uranium and plutonium being mined and nuclear energy being produced will advance the Australian indigenous people

Nothing but beautiful positive stuff when you combine nuclear energy and Aboriginal Aussies...of course you need to ignore what the British did to first nations people here at Maralinga but hey... let's not dwell too much on the past

It is when it’s constant. Everywhere. Everyday.

This is a small portion of it. Suddenly it’s expanded to two weeks, exchanging of gifts to opposition, meaningless welcome to my own country before games.

All politically correct trash.

Sorry, not sorry.
Why do you care though? None of those things hurt you in any way but they make other people happy.

The exchanging of gifts for example, why do you have a problem with that? It's something that the indigenous players and leaders at the club have identified as something that will have a positive impact.

I think you need a bit of perspective on the country you live in. Some 2 billion people living in China can't even criticise the government, but we are a nanny state spreading propoganda?

Do you think you're racist? Because you are really coming across that way.
Well said, mate!

Anyway, let’s leave this sad, sad person to stew in his own juices. He obviously craves negative attention.

You’re superannuation lives in BHP shares. Yes, it does.

BHP says the indigenous people are making huge strides thanks to mining.

Be thankful to BHP

I propose a BHP/Rio Tinto Celebration Round.
Something like a U.S. Thanksgiving thing.
All clubs will don guernseys that celebrate Australia’s mines.

So yellow on the guernsey now represents yellowcake! Yeah....I see where you're coming from.

Many fund managers avoid commodity based stocks like BHP. 'Commodity stocks are too volatile' they often say. Would have been a great buy 30 years ago or even 20 years ago before they split into their various offshoots like Bluescope, North etc. Used to be heavily exposed to coal. Now heavily exposed to Oil and Gas through ownership of Woodside stake
