Tony would defend Richo and Ratts too… and the players of the time

Look, I’ve got nothing against him, he knows a bit of info… but a critic he’s never been

Tell it straight is just what I prefer… not club spin
With all due respect BM, you’re not someone to criticise someone else for spin.

I’ve never seen you so much as criticise a Seb Ross effort or suggest he’s ever played a poor game. Once I remember you lied about who he was playing on to justify his ‘role’ when he wasn’t getting the ball… and when challenged, you just stopped talking about.

You’ve never been shy of playing favourites.

The man can have his own opinions and be judged on being right or wrong like the rest of us.

I’ve seen Tony get stuck into players before

He had some knocks on his application for sure

And if you compare his body to say Caminiti or Van Es there is a marked difference

He is a tall version of Hunter Clark with respect to physique

A smooth mover yes, but not near fit enough (which is ok he’s a first year tall)

Seb Ross doesn’t play too many poor games

That’s why he’s played nearly 200
Been Captain
Been a dual B&F
Made the AA squad

His ultra consistency is obvious

I tend not to bag the good ones… I don’t blame him for the Richo years because he was the best player and wasn’t better…. Like some fools do.

Yes he has done various roles - selfless

Played as a tagger in 2020
Played as Winger in 2021

BTW
How’d you see his game last week?
Must be hard to admit… that his defensive efforts were outstanding

Which game did I ‘lie’ about?? I’m not one for quoting but you may want to reference allegations??

And if you’ve seen Tony criticise anything StK - you’d be the only one!
Which is OK we are all different supporters

Just not my go …. The everything is right that the club or players do type supporting

He can definitely be that way if he wants - no problem

There's a massive gap between where Isaac is and him proving he's capable of being a player that can stand up in the closing minutes of a GF.

But excited by the prospect of him debuting and showing what he's got.

Same with Van Es
Correct
I usually give them 7 games then get rid of em if they’re not Tony Lockett

IIRC, it was a game against Carlton in 2020. It was when the teams were all in hubs. Seb Ross was unsighted for quite a while despite being on the ground.
You launched into this spirited defence about his s*** down role on a particular opponent but then the commentators confirmed who he was playing on and it was a player that was carving us up.

Lying may perhaps have been a strong term. I think you just guessed. You were called on it and then simply refused to give a critique.

Seb Ross absolutely has had more good games than bad… but even the greatest champions of the club have been beaten on the odd occasion. You’re bias is evident because you’ll call it for sone more than you will for others.

BM

Do you ever tire of your own opinions - all of which seem to be negative, you being the “expert” you obviously are (in your own universe exclusively)

Have you changed your opinion on Byrnes disposal skills - off both feet?

But, back to Clark (you don’t miss a chance, do you?)

And just to stir you, as karma, if Ross could emulate the kicking and marking skills of a player we got from NM then he (Ross) would be a star and not just serviceable and honest, attributes which saw him with multiple B&F’s in a very poor side

Ross named dropped Keeler a number of times at today's presser. Seemed quite excited.

Ryder 197cm 87kg drafted at 18
Buddy Franklin 196cm 87kg drafted at 17.
Isaac Keeler 198cm 91kg drafted at 18.
Anthony Caminiti 196cm 85kg drafted 19.

Clearly, Van Es at 196cm and 101 is the exception.

Tall, explosive, versatile and athletic. Leaps over players and kicks it 60m accurately, with ease. Manages to move his 91kg at impressive pace leaving midfielders in his dust.

You might notice the familiarities.
You might even note the athletic traits are very similar. His core looks incredibly strong to me.

A tall version of Hunter Clark?? You're speaking out of your you know what BM.

Take another look.

When are we going to understand

It’s not about how heavy someone is - it’s about how fit they look

Isaac could be 80kg and look more ready

On another note
Kills,
I am too negative, yet too positive wrt Seb
What would you prefer?

I’ll tell you what
I’ll be negative with poor players and poor performance
And positive with good performances and good players

How about that?

Ross says… “Sandringham won really well on the weekend against Essendon VFL. Jack Bytel put on a good performance, as did Jack Peris, Cooper Sharman, Tom Highmore and Tom Campbell. We got some confidence that they’re fit and available.”

I would imagine how fit they ‘are’ is more important than how fit they ‘look’

He struggled through juniors to apply himself and was judged as not applying himself enough, because he believed he was midfielder, not just a forward.

In the under 18's he was challenged.

He averaged 18 possesions 12 were kicks, kicked 19 goals, 1.6 tackles, 3.3 clearances and 3.1 inside 50's. He displayed breakaway speed, displayed 30, 40 and 60m gut running and was described as the most naturally gifted athletes in the team by the same coach, who when he was tied to Adelaide's academy, said all those other things about him.

He was being held back. Now he won't make your 18 year old best bods calendar BM, but you'll soon see him in a different light.

I think there’s a chance, given his attributes he can become a real player! And a bargain at 44.

Also, there’s a reason he went at 44
Could very well be a bust

Do we need him to be a star at 18 - no

He needs to build an AFL body, gain AFL fitness and learn

I was rapt we took a chance on him - it’s pick 44 - that’s what you can do with that pick - reach!

If he doesn’t work out, fine

But he has serious upside and could be a top 10 quality pick

I have never seen an unfit person look fit? Or visa versa

Rowan Marshall is very fit

Tony Lockett was not fit - especially from 88-94 when he put on a lot of weight
He was however the best player in the game (with Ablett!)

He also played about 60% of the time in those years and if he was fit would have booted 140+ in those seasons and ended up with 2000 goals!
Lockett was a superstar who actually could’ve been better - hard to fathom!

You can talk about weight as much as you like. I drew comparison. They are all athletic, its an ability not only a physique.

An athletic base takes time. Talent just is.
