Not surprised . Ross the boss had an early run in with him.

Was surprised he stayed as long as he did after last year's dysfunction.

Timing is weird on this one. Should have been last year.

It made sense to keep him around for a handover over of Intel

He got an offer from Eddie Jones the new ARU coach he couldnt refuse. I also think he saw the writing and jumped before he was pushed when his contract expired.

I think Lyon, Hayes. Goddard, Harvey, and Enright will manage just fine without him

Did not Eddie have coffee with Ross recently. Might have been about a reference.
Still don't know what Rath did for us.
Seems to have been an albatross for Brett, got outside his lane?
Anyway hope we win the world cup.

What Intel did he have to handover that you've not shared with us?

Probably all of the heat maps on Sharman's running patterns and the positions where he's taken his 8 marks so far.

Rath had too much influence with Ratts and Ratts only listened to him in the end and not his assistants which was very unhealthy.

The results reflected this in the last half of 2022

No way was RTB going to stand for such nonsense and I'm only surprised that he lasted 5 /6 months.

The writing was on the wall and he was living on borrowed time since the day Ratts left.

How fkn ironic!! We were making significant changes at the club last year...assistants were being replaced...half the issues revolved around the tensions between Rath and Ratten

Rath should have departed last year. Why wasn't Rath sacked straight after the decision to extend the contract of the senior coach?

Lethlean was happy (or negligent) while the team and the supporters suffered due to the breakdown in relationship of 2 of the most significant people in his football department

Everyone knows I would have preferred that Ratts retained his job. Coaches are not always going to have smooth periods.

Anyhoo....

As, I've stated over the last 2 weeks...I hope that our current group of coaches and development staff stay united.

Ratten must have presented some sort of plan to be extended.
In 2021, we blamed accuracy and fitness after running out finals undermanned.
In 2022, we played 30 mins of good football 90 minutes of chaos for 8 games then chaos reigned. We blamed Cairns and virtue signalling from the club.

In reality, the specialists couldn't fix the skills issues, the coach couldn't get the players to execute a visible, let alone a sustainable, game plan, we got the players as fit as they decided to be in the pre-season and flogged them with pressure and bombed Max King into a bunker.

Walsh straightened us up with a review and farked off when we listened and set up proper coaching structures, Rath became famous because 10 top 10 recruits and Grumpy lead Hawthorn to an era.

Ratten, Rath, the leg breaker and the kicking coach, all duds.

Great, now he can jump on the old new coaches bandwagon and improve the Union players techniques, luckily they don't kick the ball much.

Rath was credited with taking Hawthorn kicking prowess from the worst to the best and the won flags from 12-15.

2008 must have been a fluke or everything he taught them between 2004 and 2008 was lost and magically found again in 2012.

Sounds pretty credible.

Perhaps he should have followed a different disciple of Grumpy to Richmond or Brisbane?
