Caminiti is going OK.
He should be our Key Forward until King is ready to shoulder the load.

On the performance today he is ahead of the other fringe talls, but the real test is if he gets a game in the early rounds when it counts.
Scoring is going to be hard going anyway you look at it in 2023

Stick to the game and I won't post my negative thoughts on you.diddley wrote: ↑Fri 24 Feb 2023 7:11pmThat was lucky. I mean, this just proves that women have no place in sport am I right? It’s a good thing there was a man there to correct her, and put her in her place.
I can’t figure out if you are trying to get people to pile on her, or just really like to publicly post about every single negative thought you have?

Shame we can't see the last 2 quarters.
Think of me long enough to make a memory.

Apparently it's been reduced to 7 quarters and is still on Kayo.
Some on BF appear to be still watching it and commenting on it.
I'd seen enough after 6 quarters.
Looking forward to the next one on Friday March 3rd. The one where we'll probably get belted by the Bummers, again.
Will we pick up a player in the SSP window

Some of our kids are OK. More than OK really,
Moose is further along than I thought.
Poo is an uncut gem
Van Es is a player as is Adams.
Bytel should be in the starting 23.
Owns , Windy and NWM are our next three A grade players.
Caminiti is a revelation and a good chance to play seniors..sooner rather than later,
Pity Byrnes isn't a better kick if he was he would be in the best 22.

Yep. And Wilkie and Sinclair continue to shine. Look forward to a full list. It seems we have some depth Our shooting at goal remains a problem and our rucksaynta wrote: ↑Fri 24 Feb 2023 8:05pm Some of our kids are OK. More than OK really,

Caminiti is a bit like Stewie Loewe.
Great hands, great mark, but not the most reliable kick for goal yet.
That needs to be worked on, and if he improves like Stewie did then combined with Max we will have one hell of a forward line.

King and Caminiti could be a good combination, albeit, both are unreliable shots on goal.Bruce G McAbee wrote: ↑Fri 24 Feb 2023 8:34pm Caminiti is a bit like Stewie Loewe.

Re: Match SIM squad & Match Thread v Melbourne 24/02/23
What exactly were people expecting to see today?
Melbourne is now a Premiership hardened team coming off an embarrassing year.
St Kilda, a team needing to shake off 9 years of a vanilla dunked list and pair of coaches.
2023 is the beginning of our improvement, not the exclamation mark.
I doubt anyone thought we were going to be Top 4. Some, god bless them, hoped for Top 8.
An honest appraisal always had us in the bottom 10, likely 12th but may finish lower.
Games into our kids is the goal, improvement by our 20 to 25 year olds is needed. Our older players are the ones who need to play their best football every game, if they cannot, then I do not wish to see them playing in the tri-colours in the 2nd half of the season. They are our leaders, if they cannot be consistent then they are not leading.

The only negatives from a scratch match are injuries. I don't think we have any so that's great.
Positives:
Caminiti - The Jack Hayes of 2023
Gresh, Billings and Coffield looked hungry and fit
Heath looked closer to AFL standard than I've seen
Philippou a team player, future captain material (get excited)
Cordy much better than I thought
Owens as a Membrey type looks good on him
Adams, Van Es closer to a getting game than I thought
Windhager still doing run-with roles but should be let loose this year
D50 structure was terrible in the first period but cleaned up during the match

I think Billings limped off. Hope any injury was only fleeting or minor.

After today I am excited and believe our last two drafts will provide the gems we need to regularly play finals. May take a while but it will happen

Can anyone tell me the final scores. It isn't on the Saints or AFL app.

The Howard & Cordy forward experiment has to stop
Just play our strongest backline and put Caminiti or Sharman in the square until King comes back
Pressure was good in patches but the midfield need to pull their fingers out

Re: Match SIM squad & Match Thread v Melbourne 24/02/23
Sharman needs to play deep forward where his footy iq can be maximised. He looks like he is a long way back in the pecking order. I liked the look of Cominti - probably just ahead of Sharman and took some nice grabs, but another dodgy kick. Will be interesting to see how much upside the boy has over the next year or 2.
The Poo looks very good. I would start him in R1. He got better as the game went on.
Liked NWM off half back - even if he was a bit loose. Hill much better on the wing.
Billings looked short of a run, but a class above in the 2nd half. If he can regain full fitness will be an asset.
Still too many players who can’t hit a target by foot , or miss easy set shots.
Another year of frustration, inconsistent results, and missed opportunities awaits.Really can’t see us making the 8.
And did anyone else get Rod Keogh flashbacks today ? Geez windy looks like him in the #17

I thought you had the mute button on
In fact neither of them knew until the replay as they were watching the Heath injury
But hey any chance to show your misogyny

Re: Match SIM squad & Match Thread v Melbourne 24/02/23
Yep, we can only rely on making our best defence ATM. In regards to our mids, we need to desperately improve them. I do not think too many teams are losing sleep over how many TB medals they've won or Brownlow votes they may have accrued.
The midfield needs a complete overhaul which includes allowing kids in there. If we have mids who can only play midfield then they have to be bloody good, I do not think we have a mid who is that good. The closest is Steele but he can play forward at a pinch.
Our forwards are treading water, I do not think any Top 4 team would entertain 3 of Higgins, Gresham and Butler. I am not sure they would entertain two of the three.
In terms of tall forwards, we are cooked and must keep faith with Sharman and Camaninti(?) and allow RoMa to spend time there.
Ruck wise, we are barren. RoMa is a "ruck rover". This puts our mids on the back foot before the ball is bounced. Whilst the opposition ruck may not always get a tap to advantage, his mids certainly are not thinking RoMa will. A genuine ruck is required, too late for 2023 but a must have going forward after this season.
