Bytel, said he was stoked.
Funny thing for a player to say who isn't getting a game.
he will be

His career depends on it. Time to deliver.

I would love to see Bytel & others in the midfield, we need far more depth & flexibility than what we had last year. Which showed when we lost Steele, Gresham & Jones at times throughout the year.

So true
Midfield is where I want to see flexibility also it’s why I’m keen to see Sinclair go through often as part of rotation
Options…
Numpties suggesting you don’t move a guy off HB whose won AA honours probably said the same dribble when Hawks moved Hodge off HB (after AA finish) into the guts…
Get your best around the action and delivering into 50 to hurt opponents
NWM will clean up off HB with Coffield, Connolly, Clark etc etc on the other …we have options…
(see how I used that word in the post THEN to capstone the post to finish off strongly…)
I feel good about this year…

Thank god you are not coach

BTW
Sinclair trained with the defenders Wednesday

The backs were
Eyre, Howard, Battle, Wilkie, Cordy, Sinclair, Wanganeen Milera, McLennan, Highmore, Adams, Webster, Van Ed, Connolly,

How about disagreeing with Teflon without the insults.

At the end of the day it wont matter what is discussed here, the coaches will do what they think is best for the team. IMO Sinclair will be a star no matter where he plays.

Saying ‘thank god you are not coach’ is not an insult. B.M is expressing that he disagrees with Teflon’s opinion

B.M didn’t use any derogatory words. He didn’t belittle Teflon or get personal

Cheers IS
Ignore the “club” there’s a few on here who snipe then run to mods when they get a bit back and BM isn’t immune to sharing an insult or 2 (as am I so it’s all good)

That aside - onto footy
I agree Sincs has taken his game to that next level and will be a star so for me it’s where do you maximise your return from stars ?? As per Hodge example.
I also think midfield is where we need greater diversity- he adds that touch if class (22 possessions in a half when Ratten woke up and out him in there Rd1 against Pies…he helped turn that game to get us back in it)
Class round the ball
HBF can be played by a plethora of options we have

Iam leaning towards leaving Sinclair at H/B run carry deliver from H/B is as good as it gets. But can also see people wanting him in the mid mix WE need those mids Steele Crouch Windy Jones Hill etc to have good uninterupted seasons

You can argue either way
But from those mids
Hill - not a FT mid plays wing..
Windy - will rotate through but a baby still
Steele/Crouch - great inside
Jones (think his spots in trouble if he can’t get it together)

Fir a while I’ve felt we are too same same in there…
They’ve tried Gresh and his dash his good…..it’s his 30m kick in the air an hope stuff that let’s him down often

We need more rotation options

Maybe Sincs and Clark (if fit enough) through there off HB??

To be comparable with good mid set ups we need to bat deeper

Obviously you left off Ross

If you think 1/Ross won’t be in the seniors and 2/ won’t be in the midfield

You’ll be very disappointed

Order of Mids - of which we have just a couple
Steele
Crouch
Windhager
Ross
Gresham
Jones
Owens
Bytel
Byrnes
Phillipou

Sincs and Clark may get the occasional burst in there but that’s about it

You need elite HBs in modern footy

Hodge played 80% of his career at HB

All fair points, like the Clark/Sincs idea.Maybe getting greedy wishing we had or can develop another Sincs. We do need to bat deeper mids for sure. Anway will enjoy the ride to see who steps up under RTB

Apparently NWM been tried quite a bit of HB during pre season already ….I’m sure Lyon will tinker going to be interesting

We’ll see who your hero RTB plays through the middle?… I think you’ll be disappointed and I’ll be laughing my arse off!!!

Meanwhile Sincs will be dominating off HB

It’ll also be interesting who you blame if things go awry???

In 2 or 3 years you’ll be bagging the fk out of Lyon having flip flopped like Joffaboy used to.

On Gresh, it may sound harsh, but if the general consensus is this list had been overrated, then Gresh transcends that overrating.

Don't care what the excuse is, mainly injury, and the kicking action of a crab, but he's not elite which weirdly seems to have been suggested somewhere in media circles previously.

Our midfield cannot be considered a contender until it includes a Dusty, Danger, De Goey, Crips, Wines, Neile or Bont.

I'm just not seeing Gresh in that company.

Not sure Syncs is also what our midfield needs, don't get me wrong I recon he'd go alright but a midfield needs at least one elite superstar, within the top 3 players if you are a serious chance of winning the silverware.

Syncs could possibly make an awesome 2nd Bananna, he's a Prestia type without the Dusty.

I agree not suggesting he’s Dusty
But I think he be A grade
I’m hoping in time he’s joined by Windhager and eventually Pou …who if lives to the hype could be A+
Either way we become stronger
HB can be played by others …think NWM …

I agree
But could he be elite in the forward half
He’s an instinct player ….I don’t think he sees the game to set up downfield play like a talented mid ..
But he could be a very mercurial forward…Robbie Gray type…

He could possibly be elite in the forward half but can you see him playing down there with Higgins?

Got the perfect opportunity to do some wild experimenting while King is out but I think we'd be too short for a grand final team.

Couldn’t play alongside Higgins if Butler wasn’t there?
Could he hold a HFF down ?
I don’t think I’m suggesting he’s a tall option.

Dont know, he could but it's getting crowded now.

So Higgins is your lock for the small forward role then?

I think Higgins has the ability to play smaller, still mark and kick a goal
I’m less sure Butler can hit the scoreboard and he’s had lots chances
Gresham and Higgins would be my go to
Be nice if Billings could hold down HFF but again…he’s had chances …
