Brownlow! Sinclair or Steele for the most votes?

Post: # 1980216Post StPeter »

Who will have the most votes for Saints tonight?

It should be Sinclair or Steele although Sincs came a clear 2nd in our B&F last year and didn't get a vote!!

Personally I am hoping Sincs might even win it as I backed him early in season at 1000 to 1

Of course I may be wrong and someone like Crouch might top the Saints poll.

Using the Saintsational votes, I’m attempting to predict our votes in the Brownlow.

The method:
If we win by 36+ votes we get 3,2,1
Win by 18-35 we get 3,2
Win by 1-17 we get 3,1
Lose by 1-17 we get 2
Lose by 18-35 we get 1
Lose by 36+ nothing.

Brownlow medal just about unmatchable these days....so much crap....just read the votes and stop with the cringeworthy segments

Crazy that someone like Wilkie could finish with one vote if your polling is right. Even with the award being biased towards midfielders that is still neglectful.

Windy might not get a vote but he might have cost Neale the Browlow.

Didn't even know it was on. Is there anything less relevant in footy these days than the Brownlow?

The 3,2,1 in the last round is the first time a losing team has done that since Essendon against us in 2006.

Was that a wet and windy day at the 'G?
Horrible game. We only hit the front at the 16min mark of the last quarter and nobody scored after that.
Essendon won that game everywhere but the scoreboard.

As is every other award going around.
There are so many midfielders in the game now.
For most of footy's life, there were only three midfielders on each team. Ruck Rover, Rover, and Centre. Now 6-10 players rotate through the middle each game.

Best non-midfielder this season was Jeremy Cameron with 19 votes. But he gets up the ground quite a bit.
Taylor Walker had 14 after missing the first three games. Tom Lynch also had 14 votes.
Max Gawn was the best ruckman with 12 votes.
The Coleman Medallist recieved 11 Brownlow votes.

I wasn’t in the country at the time but that looks like the game.

I'm still getting over Robert Harvey only polling 2 votes in 1994.

Our player votes falling away after the bye really did show something horribly wrong at the club. Looking forward to the results of the review.

36 players on the ground, + the bench.

Voting: 3, 2, 1

Impossible to get a fair spread.

No more umps votes.
Get a panel of former players to give votes of 1 through to 10.

That might be more equitable

Hanners has the last laugh.

Matches Marshall’s contribution for the year in one game.

What a way to go out!

Ya think he was pushed out at the end?

You're quite brilliant Shane, yeah..terrific!

Why?
The Brownlow Medal is the Umpire's award.
There are many player awards voted by the media, the coaches, and the players themselves.

Not one defender, forward, or ruckman has won those.

Midfielders filled the first six spots on the Coaches award. Jeremy Cameron finished 7th.
https://aflcoaches.com.au/awards/the-af ... 2/20220123

The AFLPA MVP top four were midfielders. Jeremy Cameron finished 5th.

Seems that none of the "experts" can get it right.

What it tells me is how much emphasis is placed on good midfielders in today's game.
