But hey, the more the merrier AFAIC. They make us a better team.

We played 5 against the Tigers.

Paddy, Benny, Hill, Nasiah and Gresh,
I heard that too and was also wondering who might be the ninth one: Ryder, Long, Hill, NW-M, Gresham, Peris, Kyle, Windhager and ????

Perhaps Ratten was misidentifying Owens, who was one of the four inaugural graduates of St Kilda's Next Generation Academy program, but who qualified through the Academy's "multicultural" remit and not the "Indigenous" remit (unless I'm wrong and Owens is actually an Indigenous man, in which case I apologise).

BTW, next time Ratten is talking about the club's Indigenous players, I'd be happy if he would desist from referring to them as "Indigenous boys." To me, it sounds patronising and disrespectful: in the rural Australia of the not-too-distant past, all Aboriginal males employed by graziers were referred to as "boys", even if they were old and grey-haired.

But it's a wonderful thing to see the club with so many Indigenous players: I think there was a period only a few years back when we had none at all. Ratten also mentioned that the club has employed an elder (a woman, but I can't remember her name) to provide support for the Indigenous players.

All good.

It is good to see the Saints doing so well on the Indigenous front at present.

The Saints have really gotten their act together, not just in recruiting but in offield support.

Nathan Lovett-Murray has been our Indigenous Community Programs Manager at St Kilda FC for over three years now. Read more at https://www.saints.com.au/news/952179/t ... ct-to-life

And it is more than just Nathan.

Plus we have re-embraced Nicky Winmar after an unfortunate rocky patch.

Nova is there so often she needs a Role.
Heard that all clubs are expected to have the indigenous liaison person- Hawks don't have one- relied on players.

Hawthorn have an extremely rich patron from Qld who sponsors their indigenous program.

They may have but they also have an extremely rich benefactor in Qld who makes a point of ensuring Hawthorn's indigenous program is well kept.
