The answer is we lose some GOP and hopefully fill their roles with young, quick good users.

My order of preference for keeping is:
- Billings

Daylight

- Ross and Dunstan

I think Billigs suffers from the Dal syndrome - Silky - but people expect him to be more than he is.

Spot on Sainter_Dad - said the same myself!

WTF are you on about?

One is a small forward/half forward who’s played 60 games, averages 15ppg, 2.3 tackles and 0.87 goals

The other is an inside/outside mid
Played 160 games, averages 23.5, 3.75 tackles has won 2 B&Fs and made the AA squad. Has Captained StK and is in the leadership group.

Are you smoking the pipe or something?!

..was in leadership group?

I may be wrong, but I don’t think Ross is a member anymore.

And that is quite something for a 28 year old who gets selected every week.

He doesn’t play like a hungry man in my opinion. Obviously he is decent skill wise and mentally knows the game..going through the motions for mine.

Billings is the one to keep in the group.

Then Dunstan..

Then Ross.
In my opinion.

But they are all champs.

You're quite brilliant Shane, yeah..terrific!

We have been a middle of the ladder team for quite a few years- apart from making finals last year. The reason is that we have a lot of middle-rung players who do OK, and pull a good game out every now and then, but don't quite go the next step, or are not capable of it. Ross, Dunstan and even Billings fall into that category, and it looks like Dunstan is gone, and I think one of Ross or Billings may need to be traded out for a bit more leg speed.

If Ross is better than Higgins....the market doesn’t think so...

SEB ROSS

Morris reported last month that Ross is weighing up his future after being underwhelmed with St Kilda’s two-year offer that includes a trigger for a third season.

If Ross does opt to explore his options, he’ll be one of several uncontracted inside midfielders on the hunt for new homes including Luke Dunstan and Will Brodie.

“(Ross) Wants more than two years with a trigger for a third. There’s not a lot of interest for him at the moment,” Morris said.

JACK BILLINGS

Morris also reported last month that Billings is weighing up signing a four-year extension from the Saints on reduced money to his current contract, naming Port Adelaide as a potential suitor if he decided to test the market.

Billings is coming off an indifferent 2021 season, averaging 20 disposals per game – his worse return since his debut season when scaling numbers from 2020’s shortened games – before a hamstring injury prematurely ended his campaign.

Alas, the 26-year old is expected to remain at Moorabbin.

IF Seb ross leaves do we get any compensation pick from the AFL and if so what pick.
With Dunstan do we get anything for him as we delisted him even though we was a restricted free agent?

ST KILDA coach Brett Ratten remains confident unrestricted free agent Seb Ross will remain with the club for next season and beyond.

Ross, 28, has been tabled a two-year offer with a trigger for a third season to stay at Moorabbin while his management has been gauging interest from elsewhere.

The market for inside midfielders to move clubs appears to be lean this year with Adelaide onballer Matt Crouch last week accepting a reduced two-year deal to stay with the Crows.

Ratten said the Saints would likely have an answer in coming days on Ross' future with the club's best and fairest Trevor Barker Award to be staged on Friday.

"(Saints list boss) James Gallahgher is working with Seb's management, but we're pretty confident they'll stay," Ratten told AFL.com.au.

"He's been a great servant, a two-time best and fairest winner and really adds to our group. We'll hear probably in the near future on those calls."

I haven't seen anything on Dunstan being delisted.
Only an agreement that he will move elsewhere.
Presumably St Kilda will not match whatever contract another team offers him.
St Kilda would still get free agency compensation based on that contract.
Probably mid 3rd round so mid 40s.

Delistings seem to be a timing thing too….
Freo have delisted 6 publically, Hawthorn 5, some teams have made zero official announcements. What’s that all about? Surely it is game playing?

Opposition mid field meeting

What do we do if Ross locks down our star midfielder preventing him getting off the chain.
Deep discussion.
What do we do if Ross gets off the chain.
Everyone laughs their heads off.
Meeting closes.

That's the problem with Dunstan, Ross and their likes.
They make up the midfield numbers.
Opponents are not scared of them.
They will never hurt, sometimes they will prevent the opposition star midfielder but other times they will let that star midfielder off the chain.
All clubs have similar players, they are not hard to develop, you need them when you don't have better players.
They will never win you a premiership but they may play to make up the numbers.

The AFL website has a delisted / retirement list which they update. Dunstan was there as delisted.
